It's part of the karma feature, which just shows people's total amount of likes.

The idea is to encourage members to upload more good quality content and also give some kudos for those that do.

So the more people like your pics/videos/stories etc. the more purple droplets will show on your profile.

People often ask about this one. 1 drop = 50 likes. If you hover your cursor over someone's row of droplets, you'll see how many likes they have. It's a karma meter.
