Gaining

Friends, family or random people commenting on your weight gain

I know this has probably been a thread on here about a million times, but how do people on here react if people comment your weight gain?

Although I am happy the way I am, I can't help but feel a little awkward if someone says something to me about how I've gotten bigger. I just don't know what to say... And I hate to sound silly or childish, but I am quite a sensitive person, and can get easily offended... I am not like some people here who love to be teased etc...

So, yeah, I was just wondering what other people here say or do when someone talks to them about their weight gain... I usually can find a witty response, but sometimes I don't know what to say or how to react...

Any replies appreciated!! smiley

Friends, family or random people commenting on your weight gain

Crazy thing is it is usually the initial shock or change that have people commenting. Once they get used to the bigger "You" they don't really notice or comment much.

Up until 22 I was very lean and the slim muscular type. In one year after graduating college when I was 23 I started a desk Job and wasn't playing sports all the time and moved in with my serious girlfriend who happened to be a great cook and quite chunky herself. All of a sudden without me realizing at all I started getting comments from buds I had not seen since High School who said "wow, you got big, what are you on steroids" and then from work acquantainces that didn't know me thinner referred to me as the heavy set guy. I even had a few girls i knew from High school say shockingly "you really changed". Long story short I finally started getting the comments and when I hopped on the scale I realized I had gained 75 Lbs. since I last weighed over a year ago. My lean muscles turned more bulky but I developed a big belly and went from a 32" waist to a 38". I looked like a line backer with a big Gut rather than a quarterback now. My girlfriend had been buying me new pants and clothes all the time being that she was a shopoholic.

Even though my girlfriend and I both continued to get bigger intentionally now....as well as not being able to resist her caloric cooking for the next 2 years I wore the tag and not to many people really discussed my bigger size anymore but I was merely considered the heavy or big guy.

So, if it is any consolation it is the initial shock and then it really settles down after that.
The last time I gained 40 Lbs. I didn't get many comments even though I am sure people could tell. My wife only commented a couple times when she was slightly intoxicated....almost in a playful way as if she liked all the extra weight on my Gut.
