Story authors

Thoughts on more different or experimental stories?

I uploaded the first in an ongoing urban fantasy WG series yesterday.

It's always conflicting, though. These stories (there are more, I just haven't gotten around to posting them here yet) take forever to write, but on other places I've posted them, I've gotten mixed responses. I often wonder... Even if I personally like what I'm writing, does that even matter if it doesn't appeal to most readers?

I don't know if including too much worldbuilding or character development passages where no sexy stuff happens will turn off WG story audiences. Like a lot of erotica, it seems this is often a "just here for the fappable parts" genre, and having too much content that doesn't relate to that - secondary plots not related to WG, relationship building, etc. - might alienate readers, especially if it gets too involved or difficult to follow.

What do you think? Do more involved or genre-crossing stories appeal to you?
