Gaining

Non-greasy and non-dairy alternatives?

Hey all! My stomach does NOT like sweets, greasy food, or dairy products; the usual items that are suggested to gain weight. I’d rather not have constant stomach aches throughout the day thanks to forcing food in that my body doesn’t agree with. Are there any alternatives that aren’t in any of those categories? I’d appreciate whatever advice comes my way! smiley

The most enjoyable option would probably be to overeat on “healthy” foods and make sure you get more than enough grains. In addition, a soy or peanut protein shake alongside each meal would be an easy way to get some extra calories in. I hope that helps some.

Find a good hearty loaf of bread you like, and search out a vegan butter at your health food store.

I am kind of a lame gainer (too conflicted about gaining myself combined with a high metabolism) but I can put one of my fave loaves down right quick, buttering piece after piece. The classic bread'n'butter but with a twist. Plenty of calories!

Healthy oils like sesame or olive (I like organic) on everything. Huge portions of whole-grain carbs with your meals, like barley or rice. Fry up some marinated-in-tamari diced tofu.

Hi-fat coconut mylk out of the can on fresh fruit. Yummm. Dairy not required. Find sweets that are natural and not sugar-based. If you do get a vision of making a dessert, erythritol (monkfruit sweetener) and xylitol are known as "alcohol sugars" which are actually easier for the body to digest. And plenty sweet once the refined sugar craving drops away and your palate changes.

Snacks. Chips, corn or potato, non-GMO style. Nuts, like cashews, pecans, and brazils or even peanuts, combined into trailmix that you can snack on regularly. I eat soaked goji berries with my nuts, healthy and lots of calories, berries naturally sweet and totally soft if soaked 24hrs, unlike raw gojis. The taste combination is outstanding and assures a lot of intake.

Been a vegan for eight years, I love to eat lots, stretch my stomach. I have enjoyed this fetish all my life, both self and visually, and actually have gained more weight since I dropped meat, sugar and dairy myself.

Good luck, and keep tweaking to find the way that works best for you!

Also, try out a few vegan cheese wheels if your $$ is flowing well. Omg I can put down a whole wheel very fast...usually cashew based. Not Daiya brand, except their creme cheez. Vegan cheese is a totally calorie-filled and easy snack. Sometimes I'll slather a wheel with some non-dairy pesto.
