When i go to the FF Pics page, i see all kinds of pics tagged with New badges. This is very helpful letting me know when i’m caught up, when i may not recognize pics i’ve already seen without going back through a number of them.
Thing is, sometimes as i’m perusing the pics, the New badges seem to start behaving in unexpected (to me) ways.
Today, for example, i know there were still a whole bunch of New pics on the current and next not-yet-viewed Pics page. I saw the banner for Chocolate Day on the 13th., was interested, and went to that page to read about it. When i used the Back button in my WWW browser and got back to where i was in Pics, the New badges were all gone, and in this case today i know i’d not yet perused the rest of the New pics on that page, nor any on the subsequent page.
Maybe there’s no better way to handle this, and i’ll have to work around this behavior opening up a new tab if i ever go anywhere other than the next Pics page.
Is there some way the New-badged pics can hold onto their badges per-user long enough for users to go look at non-pic links on FF then come back? Maybe a 2 or 5 min. timeout between last user activity within the Pics section and clearing of the New badges for that user?
There’s obviously designed-in logic to those badges. I just can’t figure out what it is.
