I've been overcomplicating things which lead to demotivation so I'll try your approach thanks.

A friend and I used to be in the exact same scenario, I feel like the absolute best advice you can get is just to stop caring. The more time you spend obsessing over results or what to eat and how much to have the harder it is to gain. You’ll hold yourself back initially and when results don’t come quickly, since gaining is gradual and needs consistency, you start to lose all the drive you had as it seems hopeless.
Just changing your habits gradually, keeping gaining in the back of your mind, and not even thinking about it or caring what others think works wonders. You may feel incredible anxiety about what someone will think when you put heavy cream into a breakfast smoothie or order ‘too much’ food but really most people won’t bat an eye much less confront you about it. If it were so hard to get fat you think there’d be less big people around.
Thank you for the advice I've been suffering from demotivation recently and was seriously considering making a post about it so this helps me a lot.
I think I'll have to change my habits gradually as you said. I usually struggle to get myself to eat more than I usually do. It's not that I can't eat much, the amount I eat in a single meal is around average I'm just the type of person to forget to have lunch or dinner.
I'll start with having toast with a lot of peanut butter with olive oil before bed. Even just two slices of bread with a lot of peanut butter and olive oil is a bit over 1k calories so it's a simple thing to do which'll contribute to my weight gain overtime as long as I do it every time before bed.
