But ask yourself, would you rather be everyone's cup of tea, or a treasured few's favorite shot of whiskey?
If you're financially motivated it might benefit you to keep things more mainstream, but if you write from personal experience and from the heart, you'll reach a readership who understands you, and trust me, they'll give you more in-depth feedback than "omg hot story". I have a niche audience myself even in feedist circles but once in a while I'll get a heartfelt letter in my inbox from someone who related to one of my characters on a personal level and that's why I do it.
