To be honest, in my college days I befriended the older possibly single/expectant mothers in my classes. Talked about various topics, school and worldwide in the cafeteria, library, hallways on breaks between classes.
Wound up hanging out between the semester at movies, restaurants.
Learned about buying gift cards at various plus sized stores around the City that led to more interactions.
I was also free to go to bbw clubs/parties as we were all friends.Same way I learned to act cool or gravitate towards others when their exes/etc came back into the picture.
College can be a great time. Met people of different socioeconomic backgrounds being in the City.
Hopefully you can branch out and experience sooner than later.
