Can’t comment on the chat, because i’m one of those freaks of nature who never goes in there.
I have a whole lifetime of not being or feeling accepted most places. For me at least, FF feels more comfortable and like home than other sites in our community (so far). It took years before i felt comfortable participating at all. Initially i did better contributing to existing discussions vs. starting new ones, but that may just be me and my socialization style (such as i even have one).
What about Shouts? Underutilized to a degree, true. Responses are going to be way slower than, say, on Feabie (when Feabie isn’t having a meltdown, as i’ve read it may be currently), but may be of worth when they happen.
Or, start a new topic in an appropriate Forum section, then give it time. Traffic is less here than on some other sites, though i find in general the quality of responses that do appear more often than not tend to be decent.
