Ravenous the day after a stuffing?

I’ve noticed that the day after eating 6000+ calories, I’m way hungrier than normal and i have to eat a lot more than normal to feel full (not 6000 calories but also much more than normal). This seems counterintuitive to me since I’d expect my body to still be bloated and digesting food.

Is this something others have experienced?

It's because you stretched your stomach out.

Yes, you are still digesting, but your stomach is empty at this point. This is one of the ways you can feel full yet hungry as well.

yes definitely! although i find it has less to do with the amount of calories and more with how tight i managed to pack my belly. Like if I overeat past the point of pain at night, i'll wake up to my tummy fairly screaming with hunger, while also being kinda puffy and sore and sensitive.

And if I have time (and supplies) to re-stuff again in the morning when i've binged the night before... it's the best feeling in the world! It's almost like my tummy is so distended still it needs to be packed full again to feel comfortable.

stomach capacity expands by sheer volume. You can even do it with water (if you have the patience)!

I find water doesn't last long enough... I like feeling full and heavy and slightly uncomfortable for a while after. But yes, it's one way to stretch your stomach :-)

Can one day of stuffing really stretch out my stomach that much?

not permanently, but it definitely helps you feel hungrier than usual the day after, even though technically you should need less. I read something somewhere about how the brain interprets excessive stuffing as an appetite stimulant but forgot the proper science behind it

It’s actually not that difficult. My average daily intake is somewhere between 4K to 5k calories. I do love high calorie foods like fast food and cheese and chocolate. I also like to eat larger portions. Adding a large milkshake to my normal daily intake can easily push me over 6k.

It's not a permanent things, but it can. It depends on how much you pushed it.

How much it impacts you depends on what you ate. If you eat a lot of heavy foods, you probably won't want to eat. Same goes if you ate so much that you are backed up.

That said, it usually goes away within a day assuming you don't push it. Might even go away after breakfast.
