From virtual to reality: have you met online friends in person?

Hello everyone,

In a world where online interactions can bring so much joy and connection, I'm dreaming of experiencing some of this in real life. While we may be far apart, the friendships and experiences we share online are meaningful. Has anyone here had the opportunity to travel to meet someone they connected with online in person? A feeder meeting? feeder- weekend? Anything? If so, Iā€™d love to hear about your experiences. What was it like to transition from virtual interactions to face-to-face meetings? Were there any surprises or insights you gained from this experience?

I've met up with a few people over the years and attended a couple of meet ups as well. I enjoyed a lot of them and had a great time.

I found Sometimes conversations can be a little more awkward in person (I'm quite shy in person though so that probably doesn't help) and especially if youre talking about feedism its not always as easy to speak about in person.

Definitely most important thing for me though is to stay safe. Even if you have spoken online with the person for years always make sure the first meet up is in public.

I've been lucky to have met loads of lovely people though šŸ˜Š

It sounds like you've had some positive experiences meeting people in person after connecting online, and it's great to hear that you enjoyed those encounters! I can imagine that transitioning from online conversations to face-to-face interactions might have its challenges, especially if you're naturally shy (I am as well) or if the topics you discuss online are more niche or personal, like feedism. It's reassuring to know that despite these potential awkward moments, you've met some wonderful people along the way.

Your emphasis on safety is so important, especially when meeting someone for the first time in real life. Meeting in public is a smart precaution, no matter how long you've known someone online. It's encouraging to hear that your experiences have mostly been positive, and it's a good reminder that with the right precautions, these online connections can translate into meaningful real-world friendships. šŸ˜Š

I met my current partner on FF. We have met face to face. Introduced him to the fam and everything. It felt seamless to me, but he was a bundle of nerves.

I've met several Feeders and FAs irl from FF, all from my hometown, including my current Feeder. This month marks 2 years we've been dating šŸ„°

@Munchies aw, thank you!
We work at it like any other relationship, but our dynamic is very special to both of us and something we cherish and appreciate.
I never expected to have what we have - 2 years is pretty cool considering this kink isn't hugely common, in my experience.

I'm not sure what sort of site you're thinking of... I met my wife through a general-interest dating website and it worked for us. We're both fat. She's fine with being fat and so am I.

I had been here 5 or 6 years and a member from here said he was passing thru my area and asked if we could have a dinner date.
He was very nice and we had a great time.
In total there have been three from here that I have met personally and each time was a great experience.
There was a couple in my area that contacted me and that didn't go well at all.
Get to know them here first before actually meeting up might be the best thing to do.
Just be careful.
