Lost weight

Hectoplasm:
So I have somehow lost 4 pounds in 3 hours. I was 201lbs earlier, now 199lbs, but in that time I have NOT used the toilet and I have eaten 2lbs of food. WTH? Why did this happen? My scale is now consistent that I have lost this weight. I am trying to gain weight to 250lbs but this is terrible, means I've only gained about 10lbs in two weeks. Pathetic!

Lol, what? There's nothing bad about gaining 10 lbs in 2 weeks. That's nearly a pound a day. That's good.

Be kinder to yourself and relax. All that stress from putting unrealistic expectation on yourself can, ironically, make it harder for you to gain. Not only can stress lead to weight loss, but you'll frustrate yourself and give up before you see any real progress.

The trick is to have fun with it. Have you been having fun with gaining weight? Because it doesn't sound like it.

Fluctuation in weight is pretty normal, my weight can fluctuate from 2-5 lbs any given day, especially on days that I'm more active. From my experience it's usually a sign that I'm not hydrated enough or it's been too long since my last meal/snack. So keep yourself hydrated and keep yourself fed and you should be good to go

Most of that was water weight, but the actual weight gain has stalled off. Think I've exercised too much and not eaten enough.

I sometimes get a bit bored of the process but I do generally enjoy it... for a few months. I want to go slightly further than last year, but am a bit more conflicted about it this time.

Doctors recommend those who are gaining weight to shoot for 1 - 2 lbs a week. That puts you at 52 - 104 lbs in a year.

Stop beating yourself up. You are being very mean to yourself. Calm down. Stop stressing. Have fun with your gains.

Weight gain takes time and you will have fluctuations so don't stress out over it.

Yea k had a recent loss of 20 lbs and it is discouraging. I have been struggling to get it back up. Just when I start making progress I get knocked back down but I don’t get the yo-yo effects

It doesn't help that even though I'm somewhat heavier than I used to be, I still look really skinny to others from being tall.

My profile pic gives a false impression, as I was bloated there and it doesn't show my legs which are veeeeery long.

Anyway my neighbour, who weighs about 300lbs, thinks I'm about a third of his weight even though we're the same height lololol.

Probably boils down to body comp and weight distribution. You can get 3 different people who have the same height and weight. But depending on their body comp and/or weight distribution, they may look heavier or lighter.

For example, muscle is denser than fat. So someone with a lot of muscle will look thinner than a fatter person. Also, all over gains makes someone appear smaller than someone with concentrated gains. Lotta things that go into it.

Personally, I wouldn't put too much stock into the numbers on the scale. But if you want to be heavier, I'd throw in some weight training. Not only will it make getting fatter more comfortable, it will make you extremely hungry. You'll want to eat everything in sight.

You don't gotta become a meathead or go the strong fat look if you don't want. But it helps a lot with your gaining journey.

I used to do weight training, but I had to stop due to medical reasons. It did help me gain quite a bit of the weight have now.

Despite what weight I have gained it is true that the higher my weight became the bigger the difference there is between my actual weight and the weight I look like. Everyone under-estimates my weight by a lot now.

A friend of mine mentioned having thicker thighs than me for example. But when I got a tape measure (I am a stats nerd) and we measured them they were the same as his exactly. Weird because they do "look" thinner but actually aren't.

Sorry to hear you had to stop. I would speak with you doctor about alternative exercises you can do safely.

But that's interesting about the thighs. Probably had different proportions.

Well from my experience, body weight fluctuates from time to time and that’s completely NORMAL. So try not to be too hard on yourself, you’re going to be okay buddy. 👍
