Question about heavy cream

Doughy Dane:
After a long break, I'm considering diving back into the gaining lifestyle.

I've been researching, and it sounds like using heavy cream for gaining is a fun idea. However, I'm not sure if "heavy cream" is available in my country.

So, what exactly is heavy cream? The cream we have here is around 36-38% fat. Is that the same as heavy cream, or is there something else that makes heavy cream unique?

Heavy cream (also known as heavy whipping cream) is cream with a high fat content. It doesn't exist in all countries. For example, the UK doesn't have heavy cream, but it does have double cream - which has a slightly higher butterfat content.

Heavy cream has around 36 - 40% butterfat. If your cream is 36 - 38% butterfat, then that is the same thing.

Question about heavy cream

Gainingdream:
I'm going to try to drink 200 ml of heavy cream every day this week (lactose free because I can't tolerate that well). Do you have any tips? And what can I expect after 1 week?

Had to convert that to freedom units.

You'll probably be fine. 200 ml (less than a cup for us Americans) isn't a crazy amount of heavy cream. You'll probably put on a few pounds. Just be aware that straight heavy cream is kinda gross due to the high fat content. So it's best to cook with it or mix it with something.

I tried getting in to heavy cream but it tastes nasty to me and I can't drink it by itself. From my experience I would just recommend increasing the amount of food you ordinarily would eat.
People have had a lot of success from adding heavy cream to their diet but really this is a calorie counting game. And they would've gained the same amount of weight eating an equivalent number of calories from a different food source

Question about heavy cream

HectorBalloon:
Can't do heavy cream myself. Gives me funny reaction. Instead I used a sort of half-fake cream called Elmlea that is made in the UK. My max a day is 275mm. That is 800 calories. It is the only thing that doesn't cause medical problems and is calorie dense.

Real cream = trouble
Plant cream = migraines

What makes this fake half cream?

Question about heavy cream

I mix about 300 ml (1/3 glass) with 2/3 half and half. That mellows out the heavy cream taste.
