Thanksgiving plans?

Hello to anyone who celebrates this holiday! I think many cultures also have holidays around harvest time, focused on eating. In the past I didn’t always celebrate TG as I didn’t have much family. I’m an only child, raised by my grandparents who passed away. My extended family live far away; more than half are oceans apart. I haven’t met any of them in person more than a handful of times, and they are pretty separate from each other as well. For college I moved from the east coast to the west coast and after that lived a nomadic life as a travel nurse.

4 years ago I settled down more and bought my home. The first person here I became friends with has a lot of family visit from LA for thanksgiving and has always invites me.

In a 2 mile radius from me are a number of good people I’ve met over time and it worked out organically that various people pick their favorite holiday to host. Ive done Halloween the past 4 years, then other friends host TG, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and so on. Some are big parties and some are small, and they’re not all the same group, but it feels good to have a community near by and not be alone.

Most of my life though, I didn’t have this, and for anyone who doesn’t have plans I see you and am sending you a big hug

That's a really nice thing to share. I moved to the US from the UK when I was a toddler. When I visited London again over the years, I started to realize what a good life my family has been able to enjoy in the US. I'm very thankful for that.

I'm also thankful I'm able to spend it with my mother, who is the last family member I've got nearby.

So how were people’s thanksgivings? My post got cut off before but I’d love to hear about your favorite foods to cook and eat, what you did this year, any comments from others about weight gain or how much you ate, really anything. This year I made pumpkin cheesecake again and pigs in a blanket appetizers. I didn’t make my family recipe stuffing as couple other people had already volunteered for stuffing but tbh mine is better 😉

It’s pretty amazing how at thanksgiving it’s socially acceptable to eat past capacity, complain about being full, maybe loosen your pants and lie down, in public. This year one of the other guests was rubbing their belly after the meal, then went to the living room and passed out in a food coma. I definitely noticed. And was biting my lip. I’ve never really known anyone with this kink irl so I’m also thankful that I can come here and openly perv. Happy holidays 🦃

There's no law that said you can't have a feast anyway.
