Well, not exactly banned, but they have a report button for feedism in SPECIFIC now. As someone who has been on the site for upwards of a decade and made a lot of my lasting friendships there in the feedism community, including friendships with better writers than me that I consider my mentors, this is a HUGE slap in the face. I know it's just one website, but it super duper sucks.

It's time we both learn html plus JavaScript and make our own feedism websites. Who needs corporate memphis eyesore when you can have Blingee GIF galore?

I’m super bummed! I have been making some really nice connections with people on tumblr, and I just hope my account doesn’t get banned. I don’t want to lose my tumblr friends. 😞

So I think it’s more like you can report someone who ‘encourages overeating’ because they list feedism under ‘disordered eating’ which includes pro-ana content etc.
Tumblr will also mark content as ‘mature’ if it seems to skate into ‘disordered eating’ territory. It’s actually far more harmful imo than a simple ban. Because this bleeds into fat people just enjoying their bodies regardless of the ‘moralizing’ of kink content. This is tumblr moralizing fat and fat people. It’s shameful.

Feedism can include fat people enjoying their bodies. It is not EQUAL to that. That's not how that works. Not all fat people are feedists. Not all feedists are fat people. Stating that tumblr allowing feedism to be reportable content means that they are moralizing fat people as a whole... is EXTREMELY harmful to fat people. Fat people's bodies are not solely for sexual spectacles. That's you stating that fat people ONLY exist in the vacuum of fetishism.

When a website has content policies - whether or not I agree with their standard or execution - it isn't about morals. It's about *liability.* Feedism is NSFW, full stop. Feedist content, regardless of what is or is not included, is exclusively for mature audiences. That's true everywhere. If minors and vulnerable adults access that adult-only content and are harmed as a result, that's on Tumblr. That's why those policies exist. Tumblr is not an adult-only site.

Moreover there IS a lot of parallel if not outright equation of disordered eating and feedist content. Some feedists really *are* quite disordered in their eating. That's just an objective truth. Even if the content is fantasy based or not, the fact that it's structured very similarly to other EDs (body focused, checking, extreme behaviors, value scripting around ones' body, and CAN cause harm to ones' body)... they're gonna lump them together because that's content that ONLY adults should consume and engage in.

Sure. Everyone engaged in feedism (or any sexual kink/fetish) should be a consenting adult. I agree 💯.

And yes, a LOT of feedists are disordered eaters. I think a lot of people are disordered eaters. Regardless of the kink/fetish. However binge eating is an eating disorder ONLY when it also includes feelings of shame, loss of control, and secrecy. I’m a binge eater by that definition. This community is helping strip the shame and secrecy from my behavior. It’s helping me change my relationship to food in a very tangible way. My experience here has been the opposite of disordered.

And reporting people who encourage overeating? Where’s the line? I still think this is more about the fat people ick factor than any liability. Couch it however you want.

This is the banning female presenting nipples thing all over again. I was told a lot of weird things go nuked like sand dunes and pictures of food.

Having interacted with ... certain members of this community ... I can understand why feedism is seen as a form of self harm, abuse, or disordered eating. I have spent the past 3 years yelling at these people.

But feedism is not inherently these things. By this logic, BDSM is inherently abuse, but most people understand it's not.

Yeah, I can see something like this happening. A fat person posts a picture of a taco or themselves enjoying said taco. Then they get reporting for feedism. Someone has a body positivity account? Reported for feedism.

I can see this being used against the ED recovery community. One of the things I see them to is show off their weight gain or talk about gaining weight positively. Some troll would 100% report them for feedism.

They have in the past but it was a general ban. Now I hear it has been localized. Not surprised. Would just leave the site at this rate.
