My experience publishing a wg story on kindle — anyone else tried this?

i had an amazon kindle membership/subscription a few years ago that led me read a whole pile of stuff at no extra cost - at that time i read 5 or 6 of their feedism-related indie-published stories. there were a handful of prolific authors with that kind of material at that time.

as i recall it was well written, but it was pretty pedestrian compared to the stories i usually read here on ff. i should take another look as it's been awhile.

I am going to try amazon/kindle once I can sort out finding an editor I can trust. I have my account ready. Its my dream to get it published somewhere. Yes, it's romantasy and smut, but it also is very emotional, like most of my writing.

I've published on Amazon and while I don't have much on there right now, I get a steady trickle.

Something I MUST warn about though is HOW strict they are with adult content. Get very familiar with advice in erotic fiction groups and subreddits because they will be fountains of information if you write anything that deviates from basically extremely light BDSM and/or simple boinking and feeding can get you dungeoned or worse, closed entirely (and you can't just make a new author account because it's tied to your Tax ID/SSN).

It's worth it! But always have alternate sources. Smashwords is the other best place but honestly because I am so inconsistent with publishing I can't get a good foothold there. And rumor on the street is that SW might get a lot more strict too.

Just a heads up for anyone who writes stuff in this realm - things that are normal/fine to us for fictional content might be risky on a traditional platform.

Honestly they are probably not marketing the story that's actually published. Like a misleading movie trailer. There are clever ways to market it. I would look into the subreddits about publishing erotic fiction and asking about what would/wouldn't pass - they can be assholish sometimes but just search around before posting and chances are you'll find something that is close to what you're looking for, advice-wise.
