Developing strong cravings

I've noticed something that's happening after days of stuffing myself full of fast food. When I try to take a bit of a break from it, I get the strong urge to get some. Like today, on my drive home from work I was hungry, and it took an absurd amount of willpower to not take a detour to get more McDonald's. Honestly, I might go out in a few to get some lol.

Is this something else other people have dealt with before? I imagine this is how people end up not being able to stop gaining.

fast food is particularly addictive as its formulated to be so.


It's not formulated to be addictive. It doesn't need to be. People like fatty foods high in salt and sugar. The only thing they formulate is how to preserve the food, which has no impact on it being addicting or not.

You'll notice similar effects if your do your own cooking, but use a lot of fat, salt, amd sugar.

I exercised some portion control today for breakfast. I didn't get a 4th Minibon or a second Oreo Frappe. Limited myself to a light 3780 calorie breakfast.

Just a bit lol. It's been great to just let loose and eat. Gonna be a bit sad when I outgrow my old clothes, but it is worth it to be eating like I have been and it gives me a chance to update my wardrobe.

These are withdrawal symptoms. One of the reasons losing weight or eating healthy is so hard is because sugar and fat are addicting.

That said, it is possible to find your balance. That way you don't feel sick when you aren't constantly eating sugary fatty foods.


How long does it take to develop withdrawal symptoms? How long does it take for them to go away?

There are a lot of different variables that go into that answer, so it's hard to say. I know people who went cold turkey and others who struggled for a very long time.

That said, realistically, it can take a couple of weeks to get over withdrawal symptoms from food.
