Weight gain and cholesterol

BigBallBellyGirl:
No doctor is going to give an outright blessing to obesity, but you do want someone who respects her as a person.

Very best of luck to the two of you.

So true. This is very important. Make sure to check the reviews of the doctors. Avoid the fatphobic ones. It’s not a cop out, a lot of drs see weight loss as the only option and it’s simply not the case.

My issue with fatphobic doctors is not so much that they tell you to lose weight as it is they tend to think your weight is the source of all your suffering.

They also often have shit bedside manner.

So yeah, if you don't think your doctor is a good fit for you, get a different one. But do not swear off going to the doctor because you had a bad experience. Feedism is a risky kink the way a lot of people go about it. So you need to be under doctor supervision - even if all you are doing is getting a routine check up.

100%

It’s just worth the search for a HAES or one that at least takes your concerns seriously. They are out there. To me running a blood test without a fast seems like the opposite of what you’d want in a doctor, not that this is necessarily the case in OP’s SO’s case - I had a doctor throw out tests because they didn’t know I didn’t fast before the blood test and this was for a DOT check up.

high cholesterol with a bacon cheese cheeseburger in your blood stream isn’t condusive of anything other than that you ate a cheeseburger

Been lurking this post. I believe you and your partner should prioritise health but as previously stated this doesn't completely make it impossible. Safe gaining!
