I've been thin and athletic till in my 30s..
Then the pandemic hit and my gf had much more time to cook and bake. When I went back to work a couple of colleagues asked "if" I had put on weight, but I could tell they were just asking how much.
I told my gf expecting her to say it was time to cook less, instead she found it amusing, she even said she was happy my colleagues noticed she was looking after me well. If anything, that motivated her to bake more.
She liked to tease me for having developed a sweet tooth, even though she played a big role in that (you know, she would hug me and thank me whenever I was showing appreciation for her baking, which meant eating a good portion, or accepting a second slice).
I didn't gain that much according to some standards, from 155 to 185 lbs. But that meant going from 6 pack to soft belly and love handles.
My girl? Unaffected for a couple of years, but she eventually joined in the eating and relaxing and her waist blossomed.
She's gone from a size XS/S to an L/XL this days, mostly driven by her belly!
