I've met quite a few IRL, actually.

What other people are saying, about the fattest states in America being the most conservative, is true. There's a spectrum of beliefs about this issue among the conservatives I know, though. Yes, some of them view it through the lens of "personal responsibility" and are silently judging us. But then it turns others on. I think that, being that the conservative states are the fattest, conservatives have to think about it more, which makes them have a wider and more intensely-felt range of views on the issue. Sure, liberals have written more theory on it, but the issue doesn't affect most of them quite as much, one way or another, on average.

And since Christianity was brought up in the original post... sure, some churches oppose it. But in most of the ones I've been in, the potlucks after church are where most of them are getting fat in the first place. Wide range of views, yet again. Most American churches do not seem to take the issue seriously, even though gluttony is listed as one of the seven deadly sins.

I’m not sure if you were around when we were talking about why people are mad about fat acceptance and body positivity. But one of the things that I mentioned is that most of the conversations towards the tolerance of fat people is associated with the LGBTQ and Liberal policies. And who opposes them? Conservatives and right wingers.

Yeah I do you are right that the most anti-fat biases who are against body positivity DO come from places of people who are against the Left think that anything woke has cooked up this generation. And if it’s not the content itself, it’s the people who do tell their truthful thoughts in the comments section.

While it can be true I also come to understand that not all conservatives think like this. I know that there are some people who never supported liberals but still tolerate a plus size person if that is their preference, or even if they are like so themselves.

So yeah while it is possible that some people who are tolerant towards fat people or try not to care so much despite their political beliefs. However the conversation about finding acceptance regarding of being fat and how the BP movement fell apart… it’s not looking so great.

And let me tell you something, it’s really difficult not to dwell on it.

Some people are saying that where about to live in a dystopia, and I don’t blame them. And that dystopia is run by right wingers who will gladly burn you down when you cross the line and “not be doing God’s work” or in other words don’t make them mad and a reason to criticize.

Alright I know I’m getting a little off-tracked here. In the end of the day I really am into plus size people or people that have a bit of chub in the tum. And I’d hate to one day wake up into a reality where that it’s not acceptable anymore and something like Japan’s Metabo Law ends up taking over the rest of the world because of people prioritizing health and thinness. Something that could be more than likely be backed up by the Right if society really is going in that direction.

Without taking any sides whatsoever, there are two things which come to mind. Firstly, personality wise people who lean right often have higher disgust sensitivity, lower openness to experience, and put more value in adherence to social rules, all of which seem to me to act against respectively accepting one's body, curiosity about the experience of being fat, and the willingness to make heterodox life choices.
Secondly, the fat acceptance / liberation / positivity sphere which overlaps with us to some extent, draws on ideas from left leaning radical social justice type movements which are poison for right wing people. The feedism scene is quite clearly distinct but unless you're immersed in it, it probably all looks like some strand of revolutionary fat politics from a great enough distance.
Also, since this scene does seem to tilt strongly left, the people here who are inclined towards the right are probably reading the room and keeping quiet about their politics to some extent.
Personally I'd like to see more of a balance because I don't think this *should* have a political valence one way or the other, and I suspect there are a fair few fat conservatives who's lives would be improved by embracing their bodies.

I'm a Conservative who has been part of this community for many decades. I'm no longer a Christian but still very spiritual.

I was born with my various interests (or kinks, whatever) that turn me on. I didn't have a choice. It's the way I'm made, how my operating system was programmed.

I agree with everyone who wishes Size Acceptance and Feedism should not be politicized, just like everything else that has become politicized. Frankly, I think we should all reject politicization and just . . . live. Societies throughout history have thrived when the people were not made to fight amongst themselves.

Live and let live. Everyone has their own experiences, thoughts, and opinions. No one should be throwing their views in others' faces as if they're the Arbiter of Truth. That's for each soul to decide on their personal journey.

An interesting side note concerning churches and their potluck suppers: Has anyone noticed that the most common side dish offered at churches is Deviled Eggs? Things that make you go, "hmmmm." *chuckle, wink*
