Bobo:
People here forget, as I do, that many, many people find body fat as repulsive as dog poop and I'm not kidding.
Kitsune:
I doubt anyone forgot how internalized fataphobia is in human society for centuries. It's more like why is it so trendy in the algorithm on social media platforms plus on YouTube these days?
It's like the Gamergate Campaign of the early 2010's when it was trendy for terminally online guys to hate feminists and gamer girls. I still remember that so-called word "Feminazi." There was even internalized misogyny with the "better than other girls" mentality which years later aged like spoiled milk.
Algorithms and social media platforms have changed the way people think, unfortunately. Red Pill content on YouTube for an example attracts the Gen-Z crowd. (which is my generation) I assure my brother born in 2007 watches that crap since he's constantly worried about the future.
Maybe the anti-fat content will die down someday and people will move on to the next new thing to detest on. Not to say that is any better, just a sad part of life. You are right though fat-hate in general isn't anything new. It's just mentally draining to see it in your own online space. It's those few reasons why I am trying to quit Reddit cold turkey.

Fatphobia is almost entry level bigotry, it starts people down a road of hating others who are different, and once one of these "red pillers" get rallied up enough they're more likely to go against other minority groups. Once you've convinced these people to dehumanize one group of people it's easier to dehumanize others in their mind
