Dear all,
I'm writing a YA novel set in a fat camp. The story will unfold through multiple perspectives, as a group of sixteen year olds are thrown together for the summer.
Can any of you offer any input into any of these feelings/situations:
-How you felt about your body as a teenager?
-How your parents talked about your weight.
-Self harming
-Experience at fat camp (bit of a long shot!)
-The first time you realised somebody had a crush on you.
-Fancying someone but not feeling worthy.
Many of these subjects seem negative, but that's what I want to write about. I want a novel that isn't afraid to talk about the things that are on a million minds.
I want this novel to give comfort, or, at the very least, understanding, to a young person with body image issues.
I hope you can help. Any input shall be welcomed. Thank you.
