Can't watch videos

You are trying to watch a video on YouTube but it keeps telling you “This video cannot be played because the video format is not supported”. It is frustrating when you try to watch a video on your smartphone but it doesn’t work.

There are two main reasons why you are facing the issue of watching videos on YouTube.

First, the videos you want to watch are not available in the country you are visiting. Second, the device you use doesn’t support the video format. If you are getting the same issue, you need to check if you have downloaded the right codec files.

To fix the issue of watching videos on YouTube, make sure that you have downloaded the right codec files, and the device you are using supports the video format.

Can't watch videos

We've recently tested the videos (without VPN) on most of the latest browsers and devices. Including, Safari, Chrome, Samsung and UC Browser (where applicable) on:

Apple iPhone
Samsung Galaxy
Google Pixel
Huawei P30 Pro
Motorola Moto G7
Windows 10
Apple Catalina

You shouldn't have any problems watching videos on these devices so long as you're not using a VPN. If you do encounter any problems on the above please let us know.

As a side note, the latest premium videos are now being streamed via a Content Delivery Network, meaning the data will come from a server near to your location, wherever you are in the world. This should speed up the service dramatically during busy times.
