Gaining

Has anyone used mass gainers?

They're very expensive, total waste of money. They're 80% maltodextrin and 20% whey protein. They're for building muscle, not gaining fat.

You can go to a beer brewing store and buy a 30lb bag of maltodextrin for like $20. There's no need to spend $50 for a little plastic container of it in these "mass gainers".

P4r4dox:
They are useless even if you want to gain muscle.
They suck.

I go to The Arnold every year. And at the vendor expo I've had some supplement reps joke after the event about those products, how what a ripoff they are.

They basically are marketed to skinny guys that don't know the first thing about diet and gaining muscle. Even the protein in those is not even a good whey isolate, it's mixed with literally powdered milk and cheap whey concentrates.

The whole product is a snake oil sham.

Maltodextrin or Dextrose. They're pretty unhealthy though. They're over TWICE as glycemic than straight table sugar. Good way to get diabetes.

Stick to fats like peanut butter, heavy cream, olive oil, etc. in your shakes. WAY MORE calories.
