Unpopular take: food shortages in 6-18 months

FattMatt:
The average gas prices per gallon in the Netherlands are around $9,084. Luckily we can ride a bike to most places 🥲

Munchies:
$9,084. As in nine thousand eighty four euros?

For gas?

Per gallon?

Lord have mercy.

I believe they use a comma in Netherlands where we use a full stop (period in the US).

Unpopular take: food shortages in 6-18 months

FattMatt:
Honestly, I think we will learn to stop wasting perfectly good food just because it has a wrong color, isn’t the right form, has a bend, is a little bit smaller or larger, is a day old, before we actually have a shortage of food.

This is true although we can't take chances with meat. I sometimes buy reduced food, about to reach the sell by date, though I have tried taking it afterwards and it's not the same. it's a scary thought having food shortages. But my opinion is, surely things can't get any worse and they will finally start getting better. If things get really bad, there is always a strong sense of Charity around the world so we can help each other.

There's been 15-18 suspicious fires stateside at food processing plants. IMO, some outside food here in NYC has been tasting slightly different. Like the White Castle & Popeyes cravings are not as strong. Long time favorites like Junior's, that rewarding feeling in return hasn't been the same pre-pandemic. Fruit Juices, Frosted Flakes have been consistent so I know its not 'long-covid', though I do hope more people get a chance to enjoy when they can.
