I saw it, and I was… mixed on it. The only fetish appeal I can see to it is if someone’s REALLY into male deathfeedism. From a non-fetish perspective… it’s messy in its handling of fat people. It certainly never came across to me that anyone involved hated them, and it certainly provides a more nuanced take than I usually see. However, I think there’s a sense of condescending compassion throughout it in the way some scenes are filmed. I suppose you could say it takes a brutally honest attitude towards the consequences of binge eating (which fits with its themes).
Or maybe I’m just trying to justify liking a movie that I can’t morally defend.
