So, I had this odd experience in the ER a while back that really hit a strange nerve. I’d gone in super sick and dehydrated, throwing up nonstop, so naturally, they hooked me up to an IV. Little did I know that by the end of my stay, just over a day and a half, I’d be carrying around nearly 35 pounds of water weight (only realized once I weighed myself at home and I'm a twinky guy 35 lbs is a decent bit on me!).
I guess my body wasn’t cycling through the fluid as fast as expected, so all that IV drip just built up. At one point, it honestly felt like I was being pumped up like a water balloon. I actually had to request they stop because my arms, and really, my whole body, were feeling incredibly tight. By then, every time I got up to use the restroom, I could feel the strain on my skin. My belly pressed against the hospital gown in a way that was definitely not normal for me.
Curious, I felt under my gown and realized I really did feel like a water bed, all wobbly and jiggly, especially when I walked around the room to get my circulation going. It was surreal—painful, yes, but also oddly satisfying to feel myself swell up so fast. The sensation of my skin stretching, my belly touching the fabric, and even just the extra weight when I moved was unforgettable.
Over the next week, I slowly shrank down as the water naturally passed through my system, but that bloated, stretched feeling stuck with me. I’ll admit, though, I didn’t enjoy the puffy feeling in my face and gums lol that was less fun.
But overall, looking back, it’s like I got a weird little thrill from watching and feeling myself get a preview of a mini belly. Although the water weight would oddly shift with gravity so if i was standing a lot it was mainly in my legs and hips but laying down it all flowed back more towards my abdomen because I lay on my side.
