Does anyone here like to feel fatphobia? how to deal with it?

C00kie:
Unfortunately, being fat is something visible to everyone you encounter, and you can’t control how they feel about it. Even if people aren’t romantically or sexually interested in you, many still have something to say about fat bodies and not all of it is positive.

The reality is - as a fat person you’re likely to get looks and comments, whether from strangers, friends, or even family. Some may express concern about health, while others use it as an easy way to make a joke at your expense. Sadly, fat people remain easy targets, and in many circles, commenting on larger bodies is still seen as acceptable.

The real question is... how much do you actually care about what random people say or do? Do you really want to let others dictate your existence or your happiness?

TheUltimate323:
Well, I don't really care much about the opinions of random people. I'm mainly referring to the opinions of people close to me, like family and friends.
You know, I've always been at a normal weight, but I have a desire to have a very obese body. Making that change makes me uncomfortable when my family makes comments like, "You need to lose weight," "That's not good," etc.

If a person who has always been overweight gains more weight, it is not surprising, however, if a person who has always been in a normal body weight gains a lot of weight, then yes.

Morbidly A Beast:
I’m not sure how it is in Spain and the situation isn’t the same for everyone but generally assuming your family and friends aren’t evil people praying on your downfall they won’t say a thing and you’re overthinking it.

If you’re worried about it cross the bridge when you get there but for now you have a while until the concern comments come

TheUltimate323:
Here in Spain, it's not like the USA. About 15% of people are obese (BMI 30+). You walk down the street and don't usually see fat people.

I’ll guess it’s the Mediterranean diet that makes it less prevalent there? Indeed, it’s probably the healthiest diet plan out there…but growing bellies are so much more fun to view :-)

Heaviest person you have ever dated or meet in public?

Razz:
My wife is around 350 lbs, 5'3".

Though I love/need the gaining process, when I was single I made a conscious decision to only date people who were already at a size I could be attracted to, and confident about it. Had bad experiences with anything else.

She was 275ish when we met. It was around the upper bound of what I thought I preferred. She completely unintentionally has put on 75 lbs in our time together though. (perhaps has something to do with the exact same amount of weight that I put on, lol).

Never thought I'd be with someone this big, though every day is fun new things to explore. The average body type that I seek out online etc has trended upward as her weight has, which is kinda crazy. And it's given me a lot of confidence in my own gain too, not for nothing.

My wife is the same height and about 320-340 at any given time. And I share all your observations on the ideal type :-)

Friends with fat families

Lurker123:
I was raised in a health-conscious family and I often wonder what my lifestyle (and body shape/size!!) would be like if my family had embraced our more gluttonous side. I love eating and gaining and I could be sooooo much fatter now if I had just been allowed to eat what I want.

Admittedly, it’s been really fun playing catch-up though. 😋

Awesome background :-) You’ll have to post your gaining progress!

I want to ask people who were thin before and decided to gain weight

Viktoshka:
I want to ask people who were thin before and decided to gain weight. After you gained weight, do you regret doing it? If you don't, then share your experience of gaining weight. How did you do it?

Lurker123:
I was a size 2/4 weighing 125ish for most of my life, until I stopped caring about other people’s standards and stared allowing myself to take pleasure in food. I took in about 80 lbs of pleasure, lol, which pushed me into obese territory.
I never want to be thin again.

There is so much because misery and self-loathing associated with diet and exercise. I hate all of it and becoming fat has been liberating in that regard.

I want to stay fat and happy forever, and I think if I continue to embrace the beauty that comes with my rounder form, it will keep happening naturally. 😉 Sure, putting on shoes or bending over or climbing stairs will suck, but imagine how glorious my belly will be!
.

There’s a reason for the old adage “fat and happy.” I think you’ve found out about all the pluses to being plus-sized :-)

What is it about being fat that makes you keep on gaining?

Lurker123:
I love the feeling of surrender that comes with realizing I’ve blasted through another size and am going to continue getting fatter no matter what I do. It’s so much more fun to embrace it and take pride in gaining that it is to be shamed into someone else’s standards. Plus food tastes great and fat feels good. 😎

Keep up the good work lately 👍

How to find cute outfits for gf?

Kitsune:
Ditto to HappyBigBelly that mass produced women's fashion is sadly low quality in comparison to men's fashion. Hence why I am opting for custom made clothing and BIFL brands.

I forgot about bras which reminds me there is a subreddit called r/abrathatfits! Your wife should take the bra test and find out what size she wears. She can also ask or look up threads regarding high quality plus size bra brands.

P.S The reason why I bumped this thread is because I am eager to share this Etsy seamstress that sells beautiful trousers and she allows custom sizing! The shop is called "AllTheVintageLovers." No, I wasn't paid to say that lol.

You’re quite welcome :-)

How to find cute outfits for gf?

Casually Walking:
So my girlfriend actually agreed to gain weight as long as we can find cute outfits for her to wear as she gets bigger. I really don't need any tip of helping her gain, I feel like taking our time is the best choice, I just don't know the first thing about clothes and much less plus-sized. We live in Alberta, Canada, if that helps

Sounds like the start of a fun journey as long as she’s willing to do it!

As a happy hubby to a pretty-much-lifelong big girl, I’ll tell you that clothes for larger ladies aren’t made as well because the material is thinner. My wife loves Torrid, but even their offerings tend to have rips and tears in it because of shoddy stitching. And grab every sale and promo code you can find for bras. They get hella expensive for larger cup sizes.

Advice for new mattress shopping

Sweetfattie:
The heavier you are, the softer a mattress feels, because you have more weight pushing down on it. You will also wear the mattress out faster, which is why models made for heavy sleepers tend to be firmer.

I would recommend a hybrid mattress over a pure memory foam model. Hybrids are cooler and more durable. Look for one with plenty of cushy foam over sturdy springs. That way you get both back support and comfort. Cooling features are a big plus if either of you sleeps hot.

Good luck on your bed hunt! I like a firmer mattress, so I’m afraid I can’t suggest any specific models, but I did a LOT of research on beds for heavy people when I replaced my bed last year.

Many thanks for this! It sounds like we’re on the right track, then, with our desire for the middle ground between too soft and too firm. I’ve been stuck with both extremes in the past and it’s been bad, ha. Main goal for the new one is to comfortably support about 520 combined pounds nightly.

I’m happy to see most of the newfangled brands these days seem to offer x-number of days to try it out after buying it. I presume they’d give a full refund if we end up finding it too soft or too firm?
