Maybe they are worried about eating up their daily allotment of views and messages? Might not even be true, but could be a factor if folks are worried.

This is a long-time fantasy for both of us... and not an easy one to pull off if you want it to be a committed relationship for all involved. At least in our experience. It seems like more folks into non-monogamy prefer open relationships rather than group commitments.
If you're very broad/open in your interests for who can join you, it may be easier to find a third to form your throuple, but if both starting partners are picky then it greatly complicates things. I'll admit I knew it would be complicated, but I expected the complexity to grow additively, or perhaps multiplicatively. In my experience, trying to add another person to an existing couple increases the complexity of balancing out compatibility exponentially.
So all-in-all, I agree with the nickname for potential throuple-joiners as being "unicorns", but your mileage may vary.

Something tells me it was never widespread. I've been on (admittedly mostly lurking) around a number of feedism-related sites since the early/mid 2000s and I can't recall ever seeing that.
Sadly, I think these days adopting such a symbol for the community would merely serve to act as a target for oppression. At least in some parts of the world, anyways.

My college dining hall is buffet style and all you can eat, so this has kinda been my life the last few years. With my friends there, I’m too self conscious to get extra plates, but after class, I often go to a different dining hall on campus where I can eat anonymously.
Reminds me of my college dining hall days when I would watch for curvy cuties to go back for seconds in the hopes I could offer thirds and fourths, perhaps earning me an invite back to her dorm for some belly rubs.
Never happened, but maybe you'll meet someone there.

First off, I do wish you luck wit this.
That said, are you sure D&D is the right RPG system? The focus is on heroic combat, yet the current rules have very little support for the impact of things like weight or even food. I'm not sure if 5E even has rules for being swallowed whole like 3.5E did.
While I don't have experience with them to suggest one, there area lot of other TTRPG systems with rule sets to support different styles and themes of play you might want to consider some of those. There’s lots of videos on YouTube if you need guidance.
Also, with everything going on around OGL 1.1,now is a good time to support indie publishers.
