Stories as previews for patreon sites

If it's linked to a paysite or there is a pay wall to view the content it breaks the site rules.

If it links to a free site that would be ok, but raises the question why not simply add it to the story here?

Authirs can always apply for a earners account to post premium stories to earn commission here if that's something they're interested in.

Chat update 27/01/2025 - report bugs here

ASwedishEscapade:
By moving all user details into this drop-down box you've esentially made the User tab impossible to throw a glance at and know which users align with your interests/preferences. Now the only information you glean from users are their profile pic and username. Unless you manually open each and every users' drop-down box.

And what happens when you fat-finger this 10x10 pixel button? You open a new chat with that user. What a swell design choice considering the nature of this website. smiley

On top of this you've removed the only fast way to reach a user's profile i.e via clicking their avatar in general chat. And in my case FFs profile search is completely broken. So I can't even open the profiles of chat users to understand who they are and what they want.

A new user (or cleaned cookies) who jumps into gen chat is bombarded by users joining/leaving chat. This is a bad idea and you should have that option disabled by default, not enabled.

We're rolling out updates incrementally, as mentioned before, so kindly bare with us as we make these gradual changes. What you see right now is not the full update.

Many features are still being worked on. For example, the “joining/leaving” notifications you mention will be removed entirely, and the “View Profile” button is coming back — this time in the dropdown menu for easier access consistent across both the chat user list and user tab.

Clicking on a username or avatar used to take you out of the chat app, which is something we've been meaning to fix for a while. Users have raised this issue many times, and we're finally addressing it.

Again, because these are incremental updates, you're not seeing the full picture yet. Another example our planned updates. The dropdown will eventually open a popup that shows profile and chat info, rather than expanding the menu list ' similar to WhatsApp'. This same popup system will be used for private chats, so instead of accidentally opening a private chat by clicking someone's profile, you’ll get a confirmation pop up first.

Another reason we’re moving profile info out of the current space is because that area right under usernames, will soon be used to display the first line of a user’s message in private chats. So the function of that space has changed (or will, once this update is complete). Giving users more indication of whether they want to open and engage with a private chat request. Which again is something that's been asked for by users that we are now implementing.

Please be patient. We're rolling out changes gradually to avoid overwhelming users and to catch bugs early. If you can hold feedback until the full UI is live, that would be really helpful. Of course, once it's all in place, we’d love your input, but for now things are not finished and as we have redesigned chat.

Why are we doing it this way? Because Hiccupx is one person and not a full development team. Testing and releasing in chunks is simply more manageable for us.

We get it, people don't like change. But once everything is live, it will make a lot more sense to users from an UI / UX perspective.

Just be patient folks. Chat is a complex part of the site and we are making small changes so that we can fix any bugs as they arise. Also so that chat continues to be useable while we make updates. We don't want to make all the changes in one go and potentially have a broken and unusable chat application.

Chat update 27/01/2025 - report bugs here

MissMaryMoo:
In the drop down menu for my profile on the chat it says I'm into RP. I'm not, at all.

FeedeeLoverSheffield:
You need to go into the settings in chat and unselected it in there. It's not obvious at all you need to do so

MissMaryMoo:
Done, thank you for that! 🙂

Just to add to this... Your chat settings are stored using cookies, so they’ll be remembered between sessions. However, if you clear your cookies and cache on your browser, you’ll need to double check and reapply your chat settings as they may be reset.

Chat update 27/01/2025 - report bugs here

Swollenpiggy:
The drop down menu is completely pointless and a awful addition. Makes me not want to chat at all and should be removed.

Dria:
I agree, having to click to see people's details seems daft when you could see them at glance before.

FF Team:
This change was made to allow more detailed information about why users are in chat, which couldn’t be fully displayed in the previous row format.

We’re making these updates gradually, so it might not be immediately obvious why certain changes have been made. The reason for the smaller, incremental updates is to avoid introducing too many features at once. This approach helps us catch and fix any bugs or usability issues more easily and allows us to improve things step by step without risking any major disruptions to the chat.

We do appreciate all feedback, so thanks for all and any constructive criticism provided which will help us to improve the chat.

CarlettoFX:
I personally agree with the two users comments before, what about putting only the new "more detailed information about why users are in chat" in the drop down menu, while keeping basic information always visible as before? This would preserve good usability while letting you add new features, what do you think?

With today’s update, the reasoning behind the change should be clearer. In the chat user list, the dropdown now displays relevant information about the user and why they’re in the chat. To maintain functional consistency, the same dropdown behavior has been added to the general user list. Eventually, this will be replaced with a pop-up box rather than simply expanding the list.

We’ve also removed the functionality where clicking on a user’s avatar takes you to their profile, as it was reported that users were unintentionally navigating away from the chat by clicking it.

As we're rolling out incremental updates, new features are being introduced gradually. Please do explore and experiment with these features in the meantime. Once all the updates are in place, we’ll publish a comprehensive post outlining all the new features and how to make the most of them.

Most of these settings will be available in your chat settings for customization. Plus, we’ve got a few more fun updates on the way so stay tuned!

Cheers!

Chat room

This is a caching issue, as explained by hiccupx in another thread.

Please clear your browser cache and this should resolve the problem.

How do you

Juicy:
Hi—
I’ve paid for the ‘fantasy’ membership, which I thought was supposed to include premium stories, but now there’s another level of subscription for “all our authors” or for individual creators?
I am at best confused.
—Juicy

Hi Juicy,

Sorry I have only just seen this and not sure if you have contacted hiccupx directly.

To confirm the Fantasy upgrade gives you access to all content, including all premium content for pics, videos and stories.

We also have upgrade options so that people can have a single subscription if they only wish to see once content creators individual content.

This is simply to give different offerings to members, who want to a bit more cash savvy or just support a single content creator.

Hope this helps,

The message limit is diabolical

Hi all,

I just wanted to clarify something that I don't think has been addressed yet.

The 5 message limit refers to 5 message threads, not 5 individual messages. This means you can start conversations with up to 5 different people within a 24 hour period and once a thread is started, you're free to message back and forth with that person as much as you'd like within that time frame.

Since the limit works on a rolling 24 hour basis, it doesn’t reset at midnight instead, the 24 hours count from the time you first sent the message. To help you keep track of which messages are active, look for the small 'eye' icon next to each message thread. This indicates which conversations are currently active.

You can message as many users as you like to initiate a conversation / thread. But there is a general cap to prevent spam (just in case you're super active!), but for most users, it won’t be an issue. The key is to be selective about who you choose to message.

Here are a few tips from me to make the most of your messages:

* Prioritize users who are online (look for the green circle). You're more likely to get a quick reply and start a real conversation.

* Engage publicly first and join in on forum posts, shouts, or chats before going private. You can also leave a friendly comment on someone’s profile or content to show interest before messaging.

* Read profiles carefully. Reach out to people who share similar interests and seem like a good match, rather than sending messages randomly.

* Make your message titles count. A thoughtful title can encourage someone to open and respond.

Hope that helps!
