Firstly, you submitted a photo for verification yesterday, 23rd January 2025. When you wrote this forum post it was 15 hours after you applied for verification.

We take user privacy very seriously, and as such, not all moderators have access to approve verifications. Many people wish to be verified but prefer not to share their photos widely, so to maintain an environment that respects privacy, we limit the number of individuals who can view and approve verifications - myself and hiccupx.

I personally check all moderation areas on a daily basis. So depending on when you submitted your verification as a usual timeframe it may take up to 24 hours for approval. Unfortunately yesterday I was unwell and not able to complete moderator duties, which has caused a longer delay for some other people waiting for their approval who submitted their verifications before yours. While I understand waiting can be frustrating, 24 hours is not an unusually long timeframe. I assure you, the process is always handled as quickly as possible.

Finally, I must respectfully disagree with your statement that you have been treated unfairly 'we have done you nasty'. You've simply had to wait.

Verification has now been approved, and you will have received the automated message to confirm.

Thanks for your suggestion! We completely understand how frustrating message leaks can be, and really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

The good news is that we’re working on improving the chat system, and aim to fix the root cause of this issue. While adding a workaround like a message might seem like a quick solution, it’s actually a bit more complex than it appears and would slow down progress on a permanent fix.

Thanks for bearing with us while we work on this. We know this has been an ongoing issue for some time but our work schedule for this year priorities the chat system and we hope to have these issues fixed soon.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I see that the chat is currently still functioning, but it's important that the chat resets. I’ll flag this with the site owner to double-check, as I am currently unable to manually restart the chat.

Apologies if my earlier message caused any confusion. I didn’t mean to imply that implementing or updating the feature for editing picture titles would be overly complex. Of course, the act of editing itself is straightforward. My point was simply that it’s not as simple as making one isolated change—we would also need to update the admin section to ensure that any user-made changes could be reviewed appropriately by administrators.

As a general practice, we work on the site in sections. When suggestions are added to the bug or improvement list, they are reviewed and addressed when that specific section of the site is next worked on. While I don’t have a current timeline for this, I will log the forum URL into the bug list as a reminder to update it when work on that section begins.

I do think both your suggestions are a good idea, but the final decision will be the site owners.
