Classical music

I never really liked classic music that much. But in the odd chance that I heard it, I found that classic music, some times makes sense of emotions.

I've had this with Beethoven's ninth symphony, 4th movement. It was shown in the movie a clockwork orange, while the main character was being brainwashed.

it's played while showing pieces of some of the most iconic movies of all time, namely 'triumph des willens', which is known as the German WW2 propaganda movie, made in 1934, released 1935. When I saw the film and heard the music, it seemed like they fit really well into each other.

at 4:44 of this link, you'll see what I'm talking about.

triumph des willens, as is clockwork orange is banned in some countries so the link might not work. I'm no nazi by the way smiley I'm just the kind of person you can wake up for a movie like clockwork orange

A first impression

SynecdocheSam wrote
Sometimes I think how stupid it is that physical characteristics are at all considered when looking to enter a relationship with someone. I mean, I think fat people are totally hot and am proud to say so, but I have a history of meeting, and subsequently dating, thin people with great personalities, and how shallow would it be of me to complain about this? But here I am, complaining. I want to meet fat people with great personalities, because with as many people as there are on this planet, there ought to be a cake that I can both have and eat, as well as have a companion to share it with.

But that requires meeting people. I'm bad at meeting people. I leave poor first impressions. People think I'm bitter and sarcastic, cold and closed off, when in truth I want so badly to reach out to people and don't know how. I'm not bitter, I just have a peculiar sense of humour and manner of speaking. I'm not cold, I'm just cripplingly introverted and so it may sound a bit forced when I have to be the one initiating conversation. I have plenty to say once I'm situated, and can tell stories, and write songs, and predict the future. Or at least tell lies in the interest of my own intrigue.

Hi, I'm Sam, pleased to meet you. I'd be delighted to be your friend.

I think know where your coming from. I think I'm probably as introverted as a rock, or I can be. It's hard to open up to people in person, or to find that comfort zone to talk in. It's one of life's great lessons I guess. I learned that I can relate better to people that have had the same experiences as me, than to people that have had entirely different lives. I can't open up to people that have shallow personalities to start with.

Ancient astronauts and alternate theories of creation/existence

why then can we not just assume that this all occurred on Earth, without need of space travel? Why say it happened on an identical place elsewhere in the universe, when evolution is obviously as capable of the same results as here. It seems to factor in many seemingly unnecessary elements, which simply add more multiples to the equation of probability.

good point, but you assume your friend is the same friend. If you read further PeanutButter and Kellye states that the colonists die off, and we remain. Most of the knowledge of the colonists is lost now, but it perhaps somehow explains why we worship a god in the sky. So in your version of the story the guy that is similar to your friend, is actually an alien.

I don't know of any substantial proof that could silence or please any critic, the most there is is circumstantial evidence. IE why do some religions depict a god live in the sky, how is it possible that the pyramids are build exactly parallel to the equator, etc. If you see those things as 'proof', but i don't think we should be looking for that here.

Ancient astronauts and alternate theories of creation/existence

Nobody here is posting a "theory." You're all posting hypotheses.
...A guess is not a theory, it's a hypothesis.

This is a non to semi serious thread. Lets not get into fights about how truthful or not our theories/hypotheses are. I'm more interested in what people think, than whether it can be proven or not.

In that point of view, who knows if all our religions are cargo cults as well, caused by ancient astronauts?

I would definitely rule out some more modern religions as to not being caused by ancient astronauts.
If you think about Jesus christ, and compare it say to teh movie 'the day the earth stood still' from 1951, I see similarities. I mean the alien get's killed by scared people, he rises from the dead, and flies away in his space ship.
Jesus got killed by scared people, rose from the dead, and flew up into the sky.
Maybe I just discovered where the director got his script from, or maybe it shows that yesterday's god's are today's aliens. It's strange to think that tribe folk would call air planes gods, while if we didn't knew it was that flew in the sky, we at least know it isn't any deity.

Its a pretty wide spread theory the ancient astronauts. I found some info in the wiki:
