You should have said: "If you were really like me you'd never have joined weight watchers!"

You make some good points. It may be one of those ideas that sound great until you start working out the details!

I have to admit I'd patronize it. At least once!

Someone told me this is a real thing in Japan. A restaurant where women (maybe men too, idk) are paid to eat with the partons and gain weight over time.
Does anyone know if there's really such a restaurant?
How many would work (i.e., overeat and gain for pay) in such a restaurant if there was one nearby?
How many would patronize it?

Well, that's as much a measure of fitness as fatness. I'm not interested in measuring fitness (or lack thereof).
But of course if you are that's cool!

I love those, especially the upperward-looking belly button.
At the same time I yearn for them to progress, and for that belly button to look straight ahead as the belly gets bigger....

You're just conflicted. That's very common. Your desire to be bigger is in opposition to what society says you should be.
Sometimes people love this more and more as they gain more and more and become less conflicted about it. I can't guarantee that'll happen to you but it's certainly possible.
