Why does hollywood kill things
Presumably they want to appeal to a wider audience than just the fans of the show/comic/etc so they can pull more money in, so they feel they have to take a different approach to the material, as well as try and fit the entire story into a 2 hour or so framework as opposed to episodes or issues.
As for competence, that's a different matter altogether.
Because they aren't that familiar to the material and didn't put their blood, sweat and tears into the original works (and are only in it for the money, really), they don't really understand what to do... just all about thinking what wider audiences want.

Wanting to fatten someone

So please be honest about your intentions- it isn't worth it to be secretive about it. You'll feel much better in the long run if you do it fairly and out in the open, and it'll likely work out better too. To genuinely share it with another and have some wicked fun with that, it'll be fantastic.
I'd like to fatten up my partner without them knowing - any tips? 
- On another note, Secret Feeding/Fattening is something that is universally frowned upon in the community for being unethical, as it betrays another person's trust. Fantasizing about it is fine, as the 'FANTASY' part of Fantasy Feeder indicates, but doing it for real is another matter. NO sneaking weight gain supplements/more fattening ingredients into anyone's food!

The beauty of nature
I need nature about in some way in my environment to help me feel more settled. Even little house plants are nice for me to have about.
