Outgrow seating

Sweetfattie:
Ugh, yes! Chairs with arms are the enemy. I am very pear-shaped with wide hips and huge thighs, so fitting in chairs can be difficult.

My favorite Korean BBQ restaurant has the most awful chairs that dig painfully into my thighs and hips. Fortunately, they’ve always been willing and able to provide a chair without arms when I ask for one. You would think restaurant owners would figure out that fat people are likely to buy more food…

Wooloo7:
Does it ever make you not want to go? or more of the opposite?

If a restaurant’s chairs don’t fit the first time I go there, I politely ask the server for a chair without arms. If they provide one without being rude, I’ll stay and eat there. If they don’t have an appropriate chair or they cop an attitude, I leave.

The Korean BBQ place is always willing to accommodate me, they’re very nice about it, and the food is fantastic. So I keep going back.

Outgrow seating

Ava Yaps:
Does anyone else struggles with certain chairs. I noticed that my hips just spill out of the sides now. If they are completely closed sometimes it’s really uncomfortable sitting in them since I just get squeezed in it so much. Also in a booth my belly sometimes is in the way so certain seats just aren’t comfortable anymore.

Do you find the physical limitations of weight gain a turn on or a turn off?

Munchies:
Not just that. Illness, job loss, death ... the list is long.

Hell, these past due months has seen an uptick in natural disasters, war, and terrorism. Not saying people need to live in fear. Just be aware that things can go tits up without any notice, and you need to be prepared

It always surprises me that so many people don’t plan for the worst case scenario. Maybe it’s because I grew up in California, where fire and earthquake preparedness are something you learn as little kids. Disaster could strike at any time, so you make contingency plans and then get on with life.

So, I don’t want to get fat enough that I can’t run while carrying two cat carriers long enough to get out of a burning house. (Which I can do right now. It’s not pleasant for anyone involved, but I can if I have to.)

Itchy stretch marks

Munchies:
Well, no. Once you get them, it means you grew faster than your skin could keep up. I've seen some wicked cases of fluid retention that led to stretchmarks.

I can confirm that severe edema sometimes causes stretch marks. Years ago I had a terrible reaction to a medication that resulted in my lower legs and feet blowing up like balloons. That was painful. I’ve also seen stretch marks on teens who had huge growth spurts.

Thanks for the tip, by the way! Shea butter is great stuff.

Itchy stretch marks

Anyone have any tips for dealing with the itch? I have a bunch of old, deep stretch marks on my belly between my rolls. Right where my waistband sits. Lately they’ve been itchy to the point where my usual anti-itch lotion isn’t doing much. I’m not looking to make them go away, I like the way they look and they’re deep enough that they’re not going anywhere. I just want them to stop itching.

30s+ bi/pan/lesbian women - wlw, sapphic, etc!

LoraDayton:
There have been a few threads dedicated solely to women/femme/nb folk connecting with each other and I'd like to create another specifically for Elder Millennial-and-older crowd.

So just throwing it out there for us to connect! I know we tend to lurk or run and hide from this place but I'm always looking to connect with other women into this who are into other women and vice-versa.

Feel free to add to this and say hi if this is you and share what you're looking for if anything?

Personally I'm almost always open to connecting with Dommes and FAs or feeders, tend to be more open to RPing with women, etc. But also happy to just make friends!

Hey, someone like me! I’m 41 and bisexual. I would love to chat with a feeder or FA. I prefer the softer side of feedism. Friends would be great too, you can never have too many friends. smiley

Most controversial food opinions

Dill pickles aren’t my thing, unless they’re on a Cuban sandwich.

I will stand at the kitchen counter and eat pickled garlic out of the jar though. I love a good kimchi, and danmuji, and the pickled cabbage stuff you get with pupusas, and pickled red onions… just not your standard dill pickle.

Unhealthy?

Munchies:
Feel you. But hey! Figuring it out is half the fun.

I will say sometimes it's not missing a spice. Rather, it's all about how you use the spice. For example, if you take your spices and heat them in a skillet on low, you unlock a bolder flavor.

Oh god, toasting the spices. Somehow I always either burn them or don’t cook them enough. One of these days I want to take an Indian cooking class and get the teacher to show me exactly how it’s done. It’s probably practice and repetition, but I can only screw up dinner so many times before I go back to something I know I can do. 😅

We stan a queen who can cook.

Haha, right now I’m a much better baker than cook. I’m determined to learn though! I can do a lot of American dishes well, but I’m not familiar enough with the spices, herbs, and other flavorings from other parts of the world to know what a dish needs when I taste it. I can tell that my saag paneer doesn’t taste right, but what exactly is it missing? Hell if I know!

Unhealthy?

Munchies:
It's because of how you trained your brain. You can train your brain to enjoy pretty much anything if you are consistent about it. It's why people who eat healthy tend to find fast food gross.

Can confirm, I dislike most fast food. Always have with a few exceptions. I enjoy eating out, but I would rather have a delicious curry with naan and pakoras, or barbecue brisket with tangy coleslaw and cornbread, or ma po tofu with egg rolls and hot and sour soup, or a big pastrami and Swiss on rye with a crisp green salad… Give me big flavors! A variety of textures! Temperature contrast! Rubs, sauces, marinades, cured meats, strong cheeses, luscious ripe fresh fruits and cool crunchy vegetables.

This is why truly stuffing myself is a special treat. I have expensive taste in food. (Yeah, there are some things I can make myself, but my homemade Indian and Chinese food game is still weak. Alas.)
