Need some encouragement

I’ve gained 7 pounds over the last few weeks, which is my fastest and largest gain yet, but I worry I’m already hitting the point where my motivation runs out, not because I don’t want to get fat but just because I’m tired of eating so much. I want to continue packing on the pounds, my goal is a total of 20 pound gain by February and I’m a little more than a third of the way there, but it’s getting difficult to force down food. My daily goal is 3000 calories but today 2500 seems like a lot. I think some encouragement would really help get me going again, if anyone would be willing to provide some on this thread!

Maintaining new, fatter weight

I’ve managed to gain about 7 pounds in the last few weeks, which is my best gain yet in such a short time and I’m excited about it! I’ve been eating twice the amount of calories needed to maintain my weight, gradually increasing the calories every day, and so the pounds have come on fast.

In the past, though, I’ve always ended up sliding back into old habits and losing the weight again as soon as I stop spending all day eating, kind of like what usually happens to dieters who gain the weight back except in the opposite direction. I want to avoid it happening again. Not only do I prefer being heavier, it’s important for my health not to get too skinny because I have some chronic health issues that are made worse by being too thin.

Does anyone have tips for avoiding weight loss on a busy schedule when I won’t have time to eat constantly? It is fine if I gain more weight, and in fact that would be even better than just maintaining, all I’m concerned with is NOT losing weight. Is there any kind of food that is very high calorie and easy to eat on the go, or is there another secret to keeping weight on?

Increased appetite?

van:
It's normal when you increase your calorie intake for appetite to improve. Usually it takes a week or two of overeating daily, sometimes longer. Most gainers experience this (bodybuilders included).

Could also be the fat in the eggnog. A high-fat diet alters the hypothalamus and can actually change your brain to make it where you don't experience fullness like before. Highly palatable processed foods (like fast food) that have lots of salt, fat and sugar also messes with the brain's satiety mechanism and can increase appetite.

Exercise is great for people with poor appetite as well. I know someone who actually avoids going to the gym because it makes him ravenously hungry lol

That’s awesome, thank you for the info!

I have no intention of slowing down in the short term, and have been trying to make each new calorie record my new baseline (as in, if I eat 2700 today then 2700 is my minimum for tomorrow, and so on), so I wonder how much I’ll end up eating daily by the end of the holidays? When classes start again I’ll likely not have time to eat this much, so I’m trying to pack on the pounds while I can. I’ve already gained five.

Is the increased appetite from these factors permanent even if you stop doing the things that caused it? The idea of losing control and gaining without trying at all (or even when trying not to) is something I find super hot, so if it is, that would just encourage me to push myself even more right now.

Increased appetite?

Over the last couple of weeks I have found my appetite has drastically increased. I used to struggle to eat 1500 calories a day, but these last few days I have been hitting 2700 without even trying. Needless to say, my waistline is showing it.

I thought it was just because I was drinking a lot of eggnog which has very high calories, but I ran out of eggnog a day or two ago and have still been hitting 2700 easily- and I am hungry even after reaching it, I could eat even more if I didn’t have to go to bed for the night!

I’m not complaining, but what could be causing this, so that I can do whatever it is more? I’ve tried so many things to increase my appetite in the past, and my doctor even prescribed appetite stimulants, but nothing has ever worked until now. Could it be that drinking so much eggnog for a few days kicked my appetite into overdrive, or is it more likely something else?

Experiences with eggnog

I’ve tried it for the first time this year and have been impressed with the results. 4 pounds in 4 days- easily the most effective thing I’ve tried so far, most other fattening things taste bad to me and so I’ve always struggled with gaining. Maybe I can finally get chubby for real!

Easy ways to gain?

I want to gain a lot of weight, but I’ve struggled with it because unlike most people here I do not like eating many foods, and I don’t have a great appetite even when taking appetite stimulants. So right now I’m very skinny to the point that even my doctor asks me to gain, but when I try to gain weight I burn out after a few days and lose it all again because I just get so tired of eating that I cannot even meet the daily calorie requirement for someone half my age. My current goal is 150 pounds and right now I only weigh about 100. My long term goal would be more around 200.

Does anyone have tips for easy ways to gain weight, preferably a lot of it? So far the most effective method I have found is getting calories through liquid, but it hasn’t been effective long-term nor has it been as dramatic a gain as I want; I’d like to gain much more and keep it on.
