Authors - update your stories with the new search tags

bcain:
Is there a set date for when these updates will end? It’s kinda ruined searching for updated stories with actual new chapters/content which is primarily how I search the story database. Glad to have the new tags of course though.

Yes, all stories need to be tagged by the end of September before we switch over to the new searches. Any stories not updated by then will not benefit from the new searches and will be harder to find.

In the short term updating your stories (without adding a new chapter) will affect the current searches, but in the long term the pay-off will be worth it, since the new tags will allow a much more detailed search for members.

Authors - update your stories with the new search tags

Here's how to tag your stories in bullet points (which I hope is easier):

* Go to 'my stories' page (fantasyfeeder.com/stories/my)
* Click 'Edit' for the story you wish to tag
* On the edit story page, click the pen icon (there are two pen icons, so click the one on the left hand side)
* You should now see a form with drop down boxes for different categories such as Genra, Gender, Sexual Orientation etc. Choose the options that relate to your story and save the form
* Repeat for all your stories

Unable to view message from deleted accounts

Thanks for your ideas on this.

I think we should definately send out a warning email before automatically deleting unused accounts. This seems only polite and it's something we've been meaning to do for a while (I'll bump it up on the priorities).

Obviously we want people to be actively using their accounts and don't want them to leave, especially since many members seem to take a break from the site and then return, sometimes years later. Perhaps we could have a 'sleep' option for accounts, where their content remains, but but it's clear to other members that their account is not currently active. This would fit in well with your suggestion about the 'online' indicator. The 'sleeping' member could then return whenever they're ready and their account would be as they left it. This would help with posts being deleted from forum threads, making the thread difficult to read. The sleeping accounts would take a bit of work to implement, so it may be something for the longer term.

Authors - update your stories with the new search tags

Wow that's a lot of stories. Sounds like it will take a bit of effort, but it will make the searching much more comprehensive.

It will enable members to be able to find the stories their interested in much more easily, including older stories which are just as relevent now. We have an archive of nearly 5,000 stories and members should be able to dig stories out even if they were posted 10 years ago.

We've got moderators and members working on updating the archive, but if as many authors as possible can update their own stories this should cut down the work load considerably. Many hands make light work.

Thanks for your help on this.
