To be fair cross breeding and selective breeding is not the same as GMO which is humans doing Gene splicing, you can cross breed corn with shrimp in nature.
But with that said GMO is safe to eat but sucks balls
1) it prompts monocrops which drains the the soil and forces them to use petroleum based fertilizers and crop insecurity
2) is pretty much exclusively made to allow for the use of glyphosate which is a horrible chemical for the environment and is leading so super pests similar to how overuse of antibiotics makes super bugs.
3)the business practices of these companies are shit[/quote]
1) Except that it has now been learned that bacteria can exchange genes with plants and animals. In short, nature does exactly what we do with GMO, it is just slow and not focused. We then selectively breed those traits.
2) Bullshit, glyphosate is not something evil although it can be misused and overused. The purpose of the GMO crops being tolerant is to allow use of smaller amounts of glyphosate after the plants are already growing. That is the attraction for farmers, cost savings due to LOWER glyphosate use. Not only that but there are lots of other reasons to use GMO. An example is the yellow rice that includes vitamins rice does not have in nature to reduce blindness in cultures that depend on rice for the bulk of calories.
3) Yeah, yeah, I know. Clearly you work for free without concern for pay so that you are unsullied by the corruption of pursuing profit. Monsanto, Bayer, and I should all learn from your pristine example.
Oh by the way, Glyphosate is an HERBICIDE that kills weeds, not a PESTICIDE that kills insects and antibiotics is another entire conversation that has nothing to do with raising crops. (although, if you want a huge dose of antibiotics you might try eating milk veal. They practically force feed antibiotics to the animals to keep them alive long enough to butcher.)

"GMOs are just as safe as organic food to eat according to hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific studies. Don't be anti-science."
Absolutely CORRECT!
The whole "GMO thing" is ridiculous and "anti-science". EVERYTHING you eat is genetically modified ... we just used to take centuries to get it done. Now we have better tools, AND a better understanding of what we are doing.
You think that sweet corn you eat is anything like what was growing in the wild 400 years ago?

lili valo:yes my GF was same way when she desided to stop fighting i started to pump weight gainer in everything she eat and drink whitout she know and just Watch her balloon up and think its just normal
becomingoverweight:What a horrible person you are. Shame you only value her as a sex object and not a person with their own agency.
Let's be real, he is doing no such thing unless his gf is dumb as a rock. Sneaking those things in food is a great plot device for fiction but in practice they have pronounced flavors that make things taste "off".
This is just the FF forum version of click-bait.

If authors are holding off on uploading a new chapter until they get a few more likes or comments, then why not just give them the feedback they desire.
Most authors on this site upload their stories for free, so the only reward for them is the likes and comments they get.
It takes a second to like a story and probably less than a minute to write a comment. If you've enjoyed the story then why not give something back. That will then encourage more authors to upload, which is of benefit to everyone.
Are you under the impression that this relates to the comments made?
We were discussing how well, or not, your algorithm works.

Obviously, you did not pay attention to the comments that were made. Your "recommended stories" algorithm is being gamed, and it was pointed out.
"Number of likes" - Did the comments not mention "like farming"?
"Number of chapters" - Did we not mention stories trending toward minimum length rather than a natural story break, sometimes by filler characters at the end?
"Thumbnail and Description" - Really?
"Newness" - Great, so this works completely backwards to "number of chapters"?
You want some suggestions?
Consider length of chapters ... longer being better.
Might as well dump likes as they are too easily gamed. Maybe number of comments instead?

Yep, I notice that the many of the new stories have chapters that are clearly sized to the minimum characters, rather than sized to match an "episode". I haven't noticed them stopping min WORD yet, but I suppose I may have missed it.
We still have some great authors writing some excellent stories. It just bothers me that we have established a reward system that favors quickly written superficial story segments over well written stories.
One thing that occurs to me, is that seen from another perspective, perhaps it makes sense. The "like farming" and short story segments may result in more site visits, equating to more potential advertising revenue for the site.
Premium stories that may or may not be 'premium" are intended to increase paid subscriptions. So perhaps all of this is intentional to maximize revenue from the site from both memberships and 'clicks" rather than an entirely accidental side effect. After all, the bills need to be paid!

As for me, I will simply have to adapt to these tactics and either post/update consistantly to keep it visible on the stories page or simply not post here at all. (The latter I prefer not to do.)
This ^^^^ is what concerns me with what is going on. It would be a shame to see our really GOOD authors abandon FF out of frustration because the parade of trash is drowning them out.
