Likelihood of someone re-gaining weight back?

WideJuan76:
Either way, sooner or later we will give in. The truth is, for most if us it is a matter of time

NYCBellyBlimp:
it is harder to put in the rear view mirror long term, the further down and stronger the pull and need to be comforted by food.
There is no rearview mirror; we say that because we care what folks think so we comply with their weight standards but the truth is that some of us would be bed bound if we could.

Likelihood of someone re-gaining weight back?

NYCBellyBlimp:
True though bariatric sleeves nor gastric bypass are successful for very long, if food addiction remains or comes back stronger.

How do you deal when you feel unattractive to the general population?

WideJuan76:
THIS IS SOLID ADVICE. I would only add that with our obesity we have to like being obese compared to how other people see us because I don't pay attention to them anymore. I know that I am gross to them and I own it. You will get there soon enough

NYCBellyBlimp:
That's true, like eating ice cream on a park bench just oblivious to murmurs and whispers yet crack jokes on anyone who gets too cute or even just continue eating living the best life.
Eventually, you come to the realization of why am I paying attention to those people who don't know me nor do they have my best interest so why am I projecting how they might feel onto me ? The truth is, the fatter I became the more people never actually gave a damn. Most times our own self dialogue is catastrophizing when in actuality no one cares....

Being cut out of your home.

If I were to experience it, it would be on the way to a facility to spend the remainder of my days; as I wouldn't want to always need Fire Department or EMTs of 10 people to get around when others need them.
I wouldn't want to be a corpse as there is a video in South America of them (EMT) not properly covering the body while in transport which was shameful.

Would rather be in a facility and save the embarrassment only encountering others who deal with bariatric patients on a regular basis vs 1st responders wondering what the heck they signed up for.

I wholeheartedly would like the same but every situation that I have encountered in which the person got so obese that they had to knock out a wall to get them out most never wanted to go into a facility because now they are afraid to go outside because they were terrified about how folks would make fun of them. I had an ex whose aunt was like that and she had not left her place in twenty five years but she kept herself clean and she had a cleaning service help her but she was well over six hundred and was too scared to ever go outside.

Likelihood of someone re-gaining weight back?

WideJuan76:
I recently had to switch up and my doctors wanted me to lose weight and I am doing it slowly but when you have food and fat addiction like I do then anything will trigger me and I will be housebound

NYCBellyBlimp:
Very slippery slope, as each day is a challenge.
That it is but unless we get gastric bypass the probabilities aren't in our favor. Most of us who actually tried to manifest that obese lifestyle will most likely be housebound in our future

Likelihood of someone re-gaining weight back?

NYCBellyBlimp:
Depends on their natural set-point. Medications, Stress-eating, genetics, slower metabolism due to age are factors that affect a few but not all as far as regaining. Scientists feel that since the fat cells shrunk vs disappearing when losing weight, its easier for them to grow in size thus regaining with ease.

How do you deal when you feel unattractive to the general population?

NYCBellyBlimp:
it is a juggle at times to be able to still fit in with the general public and their thinking vs standing alone in self-confidence wary of those who come in contact with you.
Overall just a matter of time to decide what makes you happiest, others perception or your perception of you.
It's different from when people look at you to looking through you like you do not exist.
It's also different to see others who attempt to blend in with general views of beauty while living your best life with others in the rear view mirror.

How do you deal when you feel unattractive to the general population?

Ditzy:
NY37 is right I agree totally.
The thing to remember is it doesn't matter what others think.Thats how you cope with it.
Even on your worst day you have worth and value and while you may feel unattractive someone will think you are very attractive.
I would venture to say everybody has days like that every now and then so you are not alone in feeling that way.
Personally I don't let it bother me.

Both Ditzy and NY37 are spot on and what I can add is this. Not paying folks attention is both a skill and a muscle and what you have to realize is that we are way harder on ourselves than other people are and some of us have the ability to let all that internal chatter to take a hold of us but there is this supplement Gaba that helps tremendously with that. There are plenty of people who will find you attractive but you have to realize that you are attractive and that comes from you grasping that your feelings might not be actually how the rest of us feel especially when it pertains to your attractiveness. Most of the time people are too shy to say that they like someone so it is most likely not you but it's mostly them

The mental allure of 300 pounds and up

I have always been bigger and even during my sports days my weight was around 220 playing basketball and around 260 playing American football so 300 was always a reachable weight so for me going to 400 was the real allure. To see and go through the struggle to climb steps became milestones. And the ability to grow a gut became so addicting that I didn't realize that I had gone to the extreme until my gut started dropping as I gained and the allure is that you have become what you have always dreamed what you would become.

How fat would you like to be?

NYCBellyBlimp:
The football weekends, Sunday Dinners. Different mindset, change of pace. If i wasn't a clotheshorse into shoes and fashion, it would be tempting.

Yeah, it was a completely different mindset there. It was way slower than what it is up here and they have an almost absurdist mentality with how they see things in which they kept telling me how I only have one life and if I learned to like the process of getting fat so why not just go for it ? Trust me, I did for a time because it was tempting but those dudes were to a point in which they saw no other life other than eating themselves into oblivian. That was a level of fatness that even I had not gone to.
