I am not so sure. It is definately based in the USA, but so is facebook, and so are the others. If a wide range of people join it will probably be great. It is a social media.

Personally, I believe that having a wide range of people from all around the world join is best. It is not good when you have echo chambers where you only talk to people from the same place as you, with the same politics as you, etc.

I think money exchanging hands vs. no money exchanging hands is enough as it addresses the issue folks have complained about.
