Why are people so angry at fat acceptance movements on the internet?

Munchies:
Beloved, don't start talking about a video if you didn't finish watching it. That's not fair of you at all.

I watched this video in it's entirety. I'm going to give it a break down for the lazy people I know will not click on the video.

This is a video essay, made by a fat black woman, is not about hating on fat people. She makes it very clear that she doesn't hate how she looks, she thinks you can be beautiful at any size, and that fat people are valid.

The video is ACTUALLY about the dangers of sacrificing your health for money and fame. She even spends an entire chapter talking about how the body positivity movement has been perverted into something else.

She also gives the same energy to the other side of the spectrum. She talks about people who glorify thinness as if it's the pinnacle of beautify and health only to end up knocking on death's door. This video has a lot of nuance to it that you are glossing over.

Thank you for not only responding but also taking the time to watch the full video from the start to the finish, unlike me who failed to do so. Or at best skipped through parts that I didn’t want to listen about. I guess at that moment I wasn’t necessarily mentally prepared for watching it compared to others (like that Jubilee video I was talking about some time ago).

I was sorta thought the video was what that 52 guy was yakking about how she was criticizing “her own kind”; something that I’ve been seeing about recently especially from those who used to be fatter previously.

But now that I read everything you said and broke it down, now I do feel kinda bad that I haven’t given that video a fair chance to watch it. Especially since that a lot of people like to brand so much negativity on their videos. Something that has become a little problematic in today’s media. But I did what I could to say what I wanted to say in the comments as well as supported the other comments that I agreed to… even those that were trying to defend the BoPo Movement with that bit of nuance. Nothing else that I could do now.

I know we may not always see eye to eye. But this is one of those moments where I actually feel more appreciated from you this time. So thank you Munchies. Heck, maybe you should copy everything you said and put it into Daisha’s video in the comments! I bet some people would feel appreciative for something well thought and written.

Why are people so angry at fat acceptance movements on the internet?

So I had recently watched a video from a YouTuber named “Daisha Unique” and this woman, a plus size woman talked about her personal frustrations with fat acceptance and mukbangs (or whatever it’s spelled).

youtu.be/msjsPzV8Chg

Now I didn’t watched the whole thing because I already know most of the things that was discussed and I couldn’t really stomach it after everything that I have been through having my algorithms sting me with stuff like this. But either way it had me thinking about this thread and tracked it down again.

Now I did posted a big comment about everything I thought about it in one of the earlier comments. After briefly watching it and reading the comments, it seems like how so many people have turned on against FA/BP is because some people have broken away from the “lies and delusions” and decided to be more healthier. Especially from what I have seen in the comments section. I had to post a comment for everything that I had to say, a big one with a hint of nuance. 😅

Now there is nothing wrong with losing weight if that’s what someone wants to do. It’s like I have mentioned that there’s a fine line between doing so for looking after one’s wellbeing versus pursuing beauty standards.

I’ll always do my best as an ally with the plus size space. Still though, it sucks as someone who has a preference for liking bigger women to be stung like this again. But I guess that’s what happens when you care too much about a community that you care about. Perhaps it’s just a reality I have to live with and finding that nuance and keep on racing.

A question for fast food workers.

Pezhead53:
I used to deliver pizza and I once saw a guy answer the door with a woman with a very big belly on the couch behind him. She may have just been pregnant or something but her position and the way she was rubbing her belly made it seem like I was bringing them the next course of a feeding smiley

She was probably pregnant more likely. Though it is kinda fun to use your imagination eh? 😜

What gets your heart racing?

There are many things that do make my heart race for the good and bad reasons (like anxiety).

But for the sake of this forum topic and not to mention what site I am on, I think what will make my heart race is the anticipation of being able to properly play with someone’s belly for the first time when everything is out!

Sure after a while it won’t be as bad the more the happens. But they say that nothing beats your first time, especially when it feels like your heart is about to pop out of your chest. 😅

Does anyone enjoy being unhealthy or unfit ?

JN_TumLover56:
NOW as someone who has an attraction to overweight people. I would want to be the kind of partner who would want to encourage confidence and acceptance for who they are physically and didn’t have to change to get my attention alone. But at the same time I wouldn’t want to put them in a place where they are unhappy and uncomfortable.

(Saying in a jokingly way)
But if it’s my destiny to be attracted to one’s obesity and potential complications, so be it! It’s a cost that I am willing to deal with right before the dice has rolled.

52Percent:
Why do I feel like this was ripped from a comment I have seen from a Jubilee video?

Ha ha! Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. But that’s something only you shall find out!

"soft girl"

Munchies:
Yeah, no. That's not even close to what I'm doing.

JN_TumLover56:
Denial huh? That’s usually how it starts with most problems.

Munchies:
I already told you what I'm doing and why. I've told you before that if I was picking on you, it would be a lot more personal and mean. You can scroll through the forums and see what it's like when I am going after someone - usually Nazis, racists, and other flavors of bigots.

I'm not doing that to you. I've never done that to you. You haven't done anything that has warranted that response from me.

Alright then. Thanks.

Munchies:
In this weather????

I think the fuck not!

But in all seriousness, I am very confused as to this whole "I gotta win against Munchies" thing you've got going on. I'm not trying to "win" an argument with you. I wasn't even aware we were having a fight.

From my perspective, this has been a case of me explaining something I know a lot about to someone who has a passing understanding. I feel like you have some kind of beef with me, but it's very one-sided.

Like, what are we doing here? I have no quarrel with you. The list of people I have actual beef with is very short, and you aren't even on the list.

Ha ha! Well I am Canadian so it doesn’t bother me as much. 😜

All jokes aside thought, I think everyone knows when someone tells them to “touch grass” as in a way to get off the internet and devices and experience the outside world… maybe talk to someone IRL. There’s more to life outside of our devices than it is on the inside. Self-improvement people have preached about this. Heck, I have seen you tell other users to touch grass. You should know that.

Now I respect you and your advice and opinions. But recently it seems like you just haven’t been giving me a break from some of the recent forum discussions. It’s almost like you don’t want people to have a different opinion even if it’s something quite similar to yours.

To save this particular forum discussion from being chaotic, I’ll have to write you a note when I can.

"soft girl"

Munchies:
You mean like a type A kinda person?

JN_TumLover56:
Ahh… sure you can say that. It’s like when I am saying a “softie” I’m trying to say as to describe someone who is humble and kind or even down to earth. Instead of someone who’s very uptight to a point where they come off as a rough person.

I’m essentially saying something similar to what you said earlier but saying it in my own way y’know?

Munchies:
I see.

Yeah, no the soft girl doesn't exclude those kinds of women.

It should. The lifestyle champions being gentle, delicate, and carefree. But having interacted with a great many of the soft girl girlies, I can confirm most of them are mean.

Like ... meaner than me by a significant margin.

Seems like I can’t win no matter how much I try to counter you, even if I may have a point. Anyways I’m going to head out to touch grass now. Highly recommend! 💯

Interesting fact about fat fetish

AskDrFeeder:
You'd think so, but I've definitely read statements by BBWs saying they don't want guys who have a thing for fat women (let alone gaining women!). I guess such women fear being fetishized.

You know I actually do agree with this in some way shape or form. Because I can relate from my own experiences.

A recent example (even if it was a few months ago) I talked to a girl who was plus size and very much my type. And she also appreciates the fact that I am into women like her, even the belly attraction thing of mine. However because she was in the process of losing weight she told me that she’s very against this fetish. I respected her decision and told her that I am not into it anymore as I used to, I want to like her for her and not her body.

It didn’t end up working out, but it’s behind me now. What I am trying to say is that many plus size women (or any women really) don’t like to be a fetish whatsoever. Especially when someone is only interested in their features and nothing else. Women are not objects and should never be so! But if someone doesn’t really need any sexual tension, they are more likely to be ahead of everyone else who do.

I have made a comment previously where I mentioned that some people do despise feedism. It’s something that someone in this should have awareness about. Of course, people do have their preferences but if it’s in a perspective of a fetish… that’s when it could get problematic.
