Its the people that go out of their way to say mean things are just insecure about themselves.
I used to wear a tank top that said "yeah I know I am fat you don't need to tell me".

Good points Conan.
You have to be comfy in who you are and not care what others think.
I gained really slow so friends and family besides my Mom said very little about my weight.
As I kept gaining it really wasn't an issue because I never made it one.
If someone said OMG you got fat I would say yeah it does look that way.
That pretty much changes the subject matter of the conversation because they see I am not phased by what they said.

It took me almost 8 months of eating more and stuffing myself on top of that to see any weight that actually stuck to me.
Your metabolism takes time to adjust to the amount of calories you are taking in and how it deals with the excess calories as far as storing it as fat.
After 8 to 9 months I was getting really tired of not seeing results but I kept at it.
The following few months I saw a 10 to 15 pound gain so I was happy something was working.
With my metabolism having slowed down and my belly used to having lots of food in it gaining weight was a lot easier.
The following years I put on a lot of weight without too much effort.

Don't expect rapid changes because it takes time for your body to react to what you are putting in it.
If someone tells you if you consume X number of calories you will gain Y number of pounds. It doesn't work that way for everybody.
Its not easy to gain weight and it takes a lot of effort on your part.

My Mom is a New Yorker she is loud and can be very rude so I tell her to zip it.
She means well but it doesn't sound like it to people that don't know her,LOL

My Mom didn't like it when I told her I gained weight on purpose. She got over it in time.
She gets on me about being fat still to this day.

Gains are usually slow so don't worry too much about what people say.
Many friends won't say anything if you gain weight some will but just own it and say yeah I guess I have gained a few pounds.
As long as you don't act like its a big deal it won't be.

My BF at the time supported me in my gain but was not a feeder or into weight gain.
My parents didn't like my gain and many friends thought I was nuts.
So just one supportive person was all I had.

Never give up if its something you really want.
It took me forever to see any measurable gain and even longer to have a gain actually stick.
