The chef

chapter 3

"Dinner's ready!" My called out.
Jake was a bit overwhelmed. She cooked a whole bowl of pasta.
"That's just for you!"
"What are you going to eat?" Jake asked.
"I'm just gonna have some cereal. I'm not too hungry."
Jake was able to slurp up every noodle into his growing belly. He began to run his swollen belly as he heard it growl from pain.
"You're still hungry?" Mya exclaimed.
"What? Are you serious! How could I be hungry?" Jake asked.
"I heard your stomach growl. You can't lie to me!"
"What... but... I-"
Mya went to the freezer and grabbed a pint of Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream. "This is all you're getting for the rest of the night. I'm heading off to bed."
Jake sighed and took the lid off the carton and began to eat. Although his stomach hurt, he still enjoyed the idea of eating more than his stomach could handle. He scraped off the remaining bits of ice cream left on the carton, and threw it away after. Jake still had the urge to eat. He felt like a greedy rat trying to steal food from a house without getting caught. He went to the freezer to see what he could find. Microwavable Mini Pizzas? Leftover lasagna? Who cares? He put both in the microwave and began to wait. After it cooked, he ate it all up. He rubbed his bloated belly. He limped to the bedroom. He saw Mya asleep in bed. He walked over to his side of the bed, crawled into his sheets, and slept.
"You ate more food after you finished your ice cream, didn't you?" Mya asked.
"...yes"
"Oh you asked for it. Just wait until tomorrow!"
What did she mean? Jake was a bit worried. What was she going to do to him?

Jake awoke at around 10:00pm. He awoke a little later than usual, but he didn't seem to care all that much. Jake hadn't forgotten about what Mya had said to him the night before, but he tried to just forget about it. It was a Saturday, so Mya had to be at work earlier than usual, so he had to prepare his own breakfast. He went toward the fridge, but he saw a fridge magnet holding up a note. The note read,
"Jake, please can you go and get a package that was accidentally sent to my mom's house? Thanks! Love you!
-Mya"
Jake decided to skip his breakfast at home because he knew there'd be something good to eat in Mya's mom's house. He started up the car and headed toward his destination.

"Mom? Are you home?" Jake called as he walked inside the house.
No answer.
"Hello?"
No answer
"Anyone home?"
No answer.
Jake looked around to see if anyone was home, but had no luck. Jake heard his stomach growl. He was starving. Mom always hated it when Jake went to work with an empty stomach. He was technically doing work. He was getting a package for Mya. That's work, right? So what was the difference? He went into the kitchen and couldn't believe his eyes. Piles of freshly baked cookies were sitting on the table. Dozens of different types! Sugar cookies. Chocolate Chip. You name it! Jake rushed to the cookies and took a bite from them. Crunch after crunch after crunch after crunch. Seemed like every bite was better than the last! After finishing the cookies, Jake felt stuffed. Looks like he was acting a bit too greedy. Jake was on his way out, but he just remembered. The package! Jake rummaged around the house and finally found it and was about to leave for a second time, but he felt a bit bad. He went through Mya's mom's stuff and ate her cookies. He decided to leave a note that he will return the favor to her some day and left the house for good this time.
