Good things, come to those who wait

Chapter 5 - Holding Steady

Looking at her as I was now, four months into our relationship I could not help but be impressed. As she got out of bed as naked as the day she was born I could see the beginning of a tummy and the shape she had to her breasts. That was where the most of the eight pounds she had put on since we had been going out had settled. She reached into the cupboard and picked out a pair of jeans and as she started to pull them up I could tell she was going to have problems. She had to yank the zip up four times before she finally got it all the way. She pulled on a jumper though with no problem at all and left for another day at university. Leaving me in bed pleased with how far things had gone but wandering where to go from here.

The next couple of months she seemed to reach a plateau, with her weight staying around one hundred and ten. The only encouraging sign I could see was that she had seemed to except the gain as she had brought some new jeans and skirts in bigger sizes. I was left wondering whether this was going to be it or not and pondered what if anything I could do about it.

The state of play currently as I saw it at this time was as follows. She was playing netball now and again and not anyway near enough to be a real problem. She would have quite big meals in the evening, particularly when I was around. The problem was though she rarely had breakfast and only would have a light lunch. She would never just have a quick snack either between meals, which all meant she was not going to put on any more weight unless something changed.

So what to do? I needed ideas. She even if I was having something to eat for breakfast when she joined me she would just have a tea or a coffee saying it was all she ever fancied in the morning. Lunch I was not often in the same place as her as our schedules tended to be different so I could not see anyway of getting her to try having anymore then. I needed her to think of breakfast and lunch in a more favourable light, something to be savoured and not just ignored. Then finally I had it! Well at least a possibility.

By this time it was coming up to the start of our finals and it struck me that after we had finished the exam we would have some free time before graduation. So I asked her what she thought of the Dominican Republic for three weeks, when she said “yes” I told her not too worry I’d book it. It was of course going to be fully inclusive, so you could get as much food as you wanted.

A month of revision and exams followed, which had seemed to go well for us both and it was now time to look forward to our three weeks lounging in the sun.
