Filling out

chapter 3

The next morning Ruby and Rory woke up at 9:15 for youth club.
Vivian and Rose were still asleep as they got their breakfast and packed lunches.
"Ugggh. I'm so hungry" Ruby complained.
"You ate three fucking bowls of Resee's puffs" exclaimed Rory, as they sat on the bus, with Ruby hip fat spilling slightly onto Rory's seat.
"I know. Only three bowls" Ruby said wistfully.
The rest of the journey to the community centre was filled with teasing and gossiping.
When they signed in, they went to their respective activities. Ruby went to dodge ball, and Rory to reading club. Dodge ball was a sorry affair, with Ruby out first, being the largest and most unenthusiastic target.
Rory enjoyed reading club, and half of the activity period was spent with quiet reading, an activity that suited her greatly.

At lunch, Rory and Ruby sat down at their own lunch table near the back of the main hall. As they ate, someone sat down next to Ruby.
Ruby almost gasped when she saw her. Wearing a purple jumper and beige slacks, a huge girl with matching purple eye shadow sat next to her.
"Hey there" she said, "I'm Violet. What's your name?"
If Ruby was a big girl, Violet was a humongous girl. At least two sizes up from Ruby, she also stood taller.
It took a few moments for Ruby to gain her composure.
"I'm Ruby" she said a bit more forcefully than she would normally.
"I couldn't help but notice your size, Ruby. Not to cause any offence, but just wondering if you liked it."
Ruby was surprised by this question in that was so forward and from someone she had just met. She wasn't sure to say yes or to shoo away Violet.
"I guess. So...why do you ask?"
Violet turned to her own lunch; a big mac with bacon and extra cheese.
"Well, you know yourself, people see me and say "well she's a cow, screw her". I mean, you don't mind me sitting here, do you?"
"Not at all!" said Ruby hastily.
"Oh, and who are you?" she asked Rory, only now noticing her.
"Oh, um, I'm, Rory" she said shyly.
"I hope we become great friends, you know that?" said Violet, putting her arm around Ruby and beaming at Rory.

The twins went home with mixed feelings about Violet. She was very forward to say the least.
Vivian was still out, so Rose ordered takeaway for them. In the twin's joint bedroom, Rory and Ruby got into their pajamas.
"You know what, Ruby?" Rory said as she climbed into bed, "I'm gonna teach that bitch Violet who the fuck is boss, and I'm gonna grow an ass fatter than her."
"You know what," Ruby thought, "Good for her."
