chapter 2

At 7:58 a.m, Emma and her parents were waiting on their front lawn. The head teacher was supposed to arrive at 8.

Emma was feeling awful. She had barely managed to get any sleep last night, and she was very nervous about her new school.

At exactly 8:00 a.m, an expensive black car pulled into the driveway. The driver's door opened, and Emma and her parents watched a pair of silver heels step out.

The head teacher was a tall and thin woman, much younger and attractive than Emma had expected. She had long blonde hair, and was wearing a tight-fitting red dress.

She smiled at Emma's parents and shook their hands. Then she turned to Emma.

"Hi there! I'm Ms. Cole, it's very nice to meet you." She reached out her hand, but Emma wasn't in the mood to be formal.

After a few minutes of talking with her parents, Ms. Cole took Emma's suitcase and placed it in her trunk. She waited outside her car for Emma to say goodbye.

"Please don't make me go..." Emma begged. Her parents ignored her and waved. She slowly dragged her feet to Ms. Cole, who opened the passenger's door. Emma got in.

Ms. Cole started to drive, making casual conversation with Emma during the trip.

"I read over your file, and I have to say I'm impressed. I'm determined to make you one of our best and biggest students." She noticed Emma's confused expression. "Brightest, I mean brightest."

They reached the school about an hour later. Emma slowly got out of the car and looked around.

She couldn't deny that the building was amazing. It seemed almost like a castle. Ms. Cole noticed her awe and spoke.

"It's beautiful, isn't it? We don't have a huge number of students either, so it never feels crowded." She walked to the main entrance with Emma.

They went inside, and Emma gasped as they were greeted by the fattest girl she'd ever seen. She couldn't have been more than a year older than Emma, but she was easily four times the size of her.

"Hi!!" she exclaimed happily. "You're the new student! I'm Rachel!" She thrust out a pudgy hand and Emma awkwardly shook it.

Ms. Cole beamed. "Rachel, you didn't have to wait for us!" She pulled out a large chocolate bar from her purse and handed it to the massive girl, who quickly shoved it in her mouth.

By this point, Emma was confused and uneasy. Ms. Cole could tell. "Your mother told me you know someone here, Samantha! You'll be sharing a room with her, let me take you there now."

Emma followed her and was surprised to see just how many elevators the school had. They went up to the 4th floor, which Ms. Cole informed her was where the dorms were. They walked down a very wide hallway, and Ms. Cole stopped outside room 406 and knocked.
