chapter 16: the motel part 2

We slept together, Mike was the big spoon. He snored a bit but I thought it was cute.

The next morning we decided to take advantage of the breakfast that the motel offered. It was all you can eat, so we were able to get more than our moneys worth. At the table next to us there sat a family of four, complete with two loud young children. The father looked a bit younger than Mike, but much more stressed, and with less hair on his head. He was also showing symptoms of dad bod, with what looked like a newer belly, based on the tightness of his shirt and the way his wife scowled at him while he was eating. At one point, both he and Mike stood up to refill their plates and they nearly walked into each other.

"Oh- sorry" they said simultaneously.

"You go first" Mike told him.

The other guy walked over to the buffet straight to the salads and stuff, and Mike went directly to the eggs and bacon. The other dad looked over to Mike and saw him piling his plate with bacon and seemed to change his mind about eating healthy. He walked over to the section Mike was in and asked; "May I?"

"Yeah of course" Mike handed the spoon over.

They both headed back to the tables with not only eggs and bacon, but also pancakes and cream, toast with Nutella and orange juice.

Mike smirked at me as he sat down, and the other guys wife didn't look very happy. He didn't seem to care though, as he ate everything on his plate and went back for another. The thought of having changed this mans life to enjoy himself more made me smile. Meanwhile Mike was absolutely stuffed again, and his shirt showed off every curve.

Later that morning it got warmer, and we went to the swimming pool to check it out. I was delighted to see the other guy there, alone this time, sunbathing shirtless on a chair. His little belly pouched out over his shorts. Mike saw me staring, smiled at me, and went over to sit in the chair next to him.

The other guy saw him coming, and they both started talking. He introduced himself as Jim, so I don't have to say "The other guy" every single time now. After some polite Smalltalk, Mike asked him if he wanted to get a snack. Jim looked around, as if his wife would come around the corner any moment and agreed.

Mike introduced me to Jim as his son and led the way back to the buffet. The breakfast deal was still going on, so all of us could still get free food. I wasn't hungry, but I watched Jim and Mike, both shirtless, eat plate after plate of sugary breakfast foods. Jim, not being held back by his wife anymore, nearly managed to keep up with Mike, as both men's love for food kept them going.

It was nearly lunchtime when both men finally stopped, leaning back in their chairs and looking pleased. Jim prodded his belly that was now looking like he had gained 5 kg. Mike just crossed his arms on top of his own, significantly larger, gut.

In a way, Mike was like Goku. He could make friends with anyone, and in his case, make them realize how much they love eating. He was my superhero. Something like that.

He left his shirt off on our drive back home.
