chapter 3 - blackouts

Maddy tapped Anna on the shoulder, "Are you OK?"

She tapped Anna, "Anna? Are you OK?"

Anna turned and looked at her, "What?" Anna looked around the kitchen and then down at herself, "That is weird. I don't remember coming in here. I was in the shower. Were you telling me something while I was in the shower?"

Maddy, "No what do you mean."

Anna paused, trying to remember, "I don't know."

Maddy, "Why don't we get you dried off."

Anna looked down at herself, naked, water dripping off her body onto the floor, "Yes, OK".

Anna walked back to the bathroom with Maddy and Maddy handed her a towel. She dried herself off and wrapped the towel around herself.

"That was weird.", Anna said.

"Yeah, you were just standing in the kitchen eating those hostess cupcakes. You ate the whole box before I could get you to respond to me", Maddy replied.

"I must have, I am so full", Anna said. "I don't know what came over me", Anna said again.

"Are you OK now? I have to get to work.", Maddy asked.

"Yes, I feel great", Anna replied, reassuring her.

Anna dressed and went to work herself. She felt fine and didn't really think about what happened that morning. At around noon she went down to the office building food court and stood in line at the Wendy's counter. As she stood in line, she thought she could hear someone trying to talk to her....

An hour later she sat at a table in the food court painfully full. She looked at the table in front of her in astonishment. There was two empty bags and an empty large milk shake. She looked at the empty packaging. It looked like she had gone up to the Wendy's counter and ordered twice, both times upsized Double Bacon Cheeseburger meals with large fries. What made her do it? Why could she not remember it? She was so full she was almost sick and had to sit there for a little while so that her stomach settled before she went back up to work.

That evening Maddy came in late having gone out for drinks with some friends. When she walked into their living room, Anna was sitting on their couch finishing off a slice of pizza. Maddy looked at the pizza box. It was a large pepperoni from Pizza Hut. There was only one slice left of pizza. Next to it was a box of breadsticks, most of them gone as well. On the floor next to Anna there was a 2-liter coke, more than half drank. Maddy looked at Anna and asked, "Are you OK?".

After a few seconds Anna seemed to come out of the daze she was in and replied, "Yes. I am so, so full though."

Maddy looked down at Anna to see her stomach visibly engorged.
