chapter 3 drinks and discussions

The trio got a small high top table in the Roundy bar and the waiter asked, "Ok what will everyone's drink be?" Mandy and Carol both placed orders for some specialty martinis while Janet said, "Can I get a simple dry martini and a glass of water, and the chili fries, and the wedge salad." The waiter scribbled the lengthy order down and sipped to the bar to drop off their drink orders and to the kitchen to put Janet's order in. Carol scoffed playfully, "No wonder you put on weight." Janet retorted, "Ok captain obvious. So how has dating been going?" Carol bright blue eyes rolled as she said, "One more douchebag down, another infinite douchebag to go." Janet replied, "I may be able to help Carol if you want?" Carol protested, "No not another blind date please! The last 10 were absolutely horrible Janet." Janet cut in, "Well it wouldn't be a blind date because I see the guy I would like to introduce in the bar." Carol started scanning the crowd of rowdy dudes going from one face after another wondering which one Janet would call over until Janet said, "Carol settle down. You see the tall one with the dirty blonde surfer dude looking hair cut with the dirty blond scruffy beard in the blue collard shirt what basically is a second skin revealing how muscular he is?"

Carol's eyes widened followed as her jaw nailed the floor and said," Who the hell is that guy, and why haven't you even told me about him?" Janet replied, "Well you basically told me to go to hell every time I try to bring up the subject. His name is Mark, he is Alex's best friend and they are very similar, so he is the closest you are going to get in the over caring department and good looks. Oh, and I almost forgot he likes intelligent crazy redheads." Carol replied with a growing grin on her face, "You have my attention now." Janet made eye contact with Mark and gestured for him to come on over. Janet and Mark exchanged pleasantries, and Mark said, "So how is Alex doing since he said he met with you today and wanted me to be here in the bar in case something happened?" Janet blushed and said," He wanted you to check up on me?" Janet retorted gesturing towards Carol, "Well I am doing ok. Oh, Mark remember the redhead that was my roommate in college I talked about? Well this is Carol." Mark said enthusiastically with his eyes nearly jumping out of his head, "Oh nice to meet you Carol. I have heard a lot of funny stories about you it's a pleasure to meet you." Carol replied, "Ha well Janet always was a loud mouth." That got a good laugh of Mandy and Mark but a modest chuckle out of Janet.

The drinks arrived at the table and Janet's two appetizers. As the clock slowly trudge forward the plates became more desolate and the glasses started to multiply. The group talked and talked and talked until Carol asked tipsy, "So Mark I heard you are into Intelligent Crazy Redheads?" Mark took a sip of his drink and replied, "Yes I do. I am surprised it took this long for me to meet you." Carol replied, "Yeah I really dropped the ball there, Janet doesn't have the best track record for setting me up on blind dates." Janet scowled and retorted, "Yeah well if you weren't psychotic half of them wouldn't have broken up with you. Mark interjected, "Ladies settle down. I think I have done my duty to watch over you Janet, and Carol here is my card." Janet turned to Mark and said in a very drunken playful manner, "Mark can I ask you something about Alex?" Mark replied, "What did you want to know?" Janet collected herself a bit and replied, "Me and him came up with an agreement not to talk about each others ex's, but I am dying to know what type of women he has dated before me?" Mark took a drink and replied, "Well before he started dating you the longest he ever dated anyone was three weeks multiply that by 3 years and theirs your answer."

Janet slowly started doing math with her hands and looked up completely puzzled retorted drunkenly, "Damn that's a lot of women to date. Why did he date so many?" Mark replied cautiously, "Well to be blunt he wanted to find a woman that was intelligent, empathetic, as egotistical as he was, highly ambitious, and someone that would do almost as much caring things for him and he did for them." Janet started laughing hysterically, "Well that explains why I have lasted more than three weeks." Mark chuckled, "Yeah he found that and more with you." Janet replied, "What do you mean by that?" Mark took a swig and said crassly, "He found all of that plus someone who is kind and not a whore." The trio started laughing and Janet replied, "Ha thanks for the compliment." Mark replied, "Your welcome. I think you ladies have had a bit too much to drink lets get you guys an uber." The trio didn't protest since he was right they all were beyond tipsy at this point.

Janet was dropped off first and made her way back to her apartment just with a more drunken sway instead of a sexy one. She got into her room and pealed off her outfit and just before diving into bed she had the nagging urge to look at herself in the mirror she twirled around almost losing her balance and her hands gravitated to her bloated belly and gave it a shook, and this time it jiggled. Then she went limp and fainted at this latest development on to her bed.
