Maybe his wife didn't want him to relax that much.

In his one week of being at home, Kyle had barely done anything except staying in bed all day, helping her out occasionally, but soon returning to the comfort of the sheets and the basket full of food he conveniently stored next to his bed. She had enough. Lecturing him on the importance of finding a new job and helping out more in the house seemed a bit inappropriate, seeing as he was an adult, but then she remembered he was a man, which meant he needed constant reminders to get his ass out of bed.

Kyle was a bit brought back after she was done, thinking he had been behaving perfectly reasonable for a person who had only recently lost a job. But she was the wife, so she won that argument. Anyway, Kyle finally agreed to be in charge of cooking and gardening, just so he could go back to bed. Seeing as the number of snacks in his gift basket was nearing its end, it looked like he was going to have to find something else.

And that something else turned out to be his chore the next day. His wife had been cooking for them as long as he could remember, and he realized just how easy it was to find something to eat when he was directly in the kitchen. Normally he would have to go downstairs to open up a packet of biscuits, but now he could grab them while he was making a lasagna. Now the he was at home all day, and not only contained to his bed, he could spend most of it in the kitchen, snacking on various foods. Kyle also realized he quite loved cooking, which he showed by making to much most of the time. His wife now came home everyday from her job to find her husband in the kitchen, making food or just eating it.

Well that didn't work out for her either.
It was now a month since he had lost his job and Kyle was showing signs of his laziness. After a particularly hungry day Kyle was stretched out on the couch, surrounded by various candy wrappers and food boxes. His appetite had finally caught up to him, covering his midsection with a small layer of fat. He was way out of shape, something that shouldn't even be possible in this short amount of time. This was the furthest he had ever been from being thin, and both him and his wife decided that he had gone too far.

His wife signed him up for a gym, they started jogging together, cooking healthy meals together and removed most of the sweets from their home.

Life was ok, and when Kyle got a confirmation that he would be starting a new job at a new school in a few weeks, it looked like everything was going his way.
